ttbn,

It's hard to tell these days.
There doesn't appear to be that much of a
difference between the two parties as far
as China is concerned. I think the Coalition
is a bit stronger in its rhetoric.

Much of the hostility towards China is manufactured, cool heads should prevail. As far as any boycott of Chinese goods and services is concerned, China accounts for one third of our exports, we account for 2% of theirs. If it came to boycotts I can see who would be the loser. Some folks need to get real. I see the wine ban by China on Australia the void was soon filled by the US and the barley ban was quickly taken up by Canada. Imports of dirt and seeds are relatively easily replaced, not so TV's and toasters.

"The human abuse by the Chinese deserved to be reacted against by abandoning purchasing product produced in China."

You go first, we'll see if you can last out the day.

I've made a statement!

All the Chinese made goods in my house are now out on the nature strip ready for rubbish collection. Fridge, stove, washing machine, fan, toaster, electric kettle, laptop, phone, kitchen sink etc its all gone. Here I am sitting naked on the floor drinking cold coffee. It's a wonderful life.Cop that Xi and your CCP.

Oh dear, the wife just threw out my cold coffee, seems the mug was made in China. Here I am sitting naked on the floor with nothing to drink. Cop that Xi and your CCP. I have spoken!

Armchair Critic,

I know nothing of your needs or spending pattern, but I could certainly survive without purchasing anything made in China. I do own things made in China, but they are not essential goods, and they don't need replacing. Local food is always available. If you need to buy imported, there are plenty of decent, non- threatening countries supplying your needs. We don’t manufacture much in Australia, but again, there are plenty of manufactured goods from the rest of Asia - Korea, Malaysia, India, Japan etc. And there is always the UK, US, and Europe. You give up too easily. The only people benefiting from the China trade are the wealthy, who don't buy cheap Chinese junk themselves.
