When things don't go as expected they start to look for justification for what they perceive as a wrong, example the election of Biden as president. The extreme view was Trump was undefeatable, when he was defeated the extremist couldn't accept that defeat as legitimate, there must have been other sinister at work for Trumps defeat, hence the creation of QAnon conspiracy theories. Just look at this Forum, they were all over it at the time.

I thought it was typical one-sided poor-journalism ABC garbage, made more effort to label these people and their ideology as dangerous than digging into what actually motivates them to believe what they do.
