Lithuanian authorities in recent future could face harsh criticism from society and disagreement with current foreign and domestic policies.

The recent opinion poll has become the clear indicator of people’ dissatisfaction with government’s policy which resulted in loss of sovereignty of the country.

In a world where nations are interdependent it is unreasonable to expect a nation to have independent sovereignty. To avoid war and other conflict nations should consider the interests of other nations and not imagine they can have complete sovereignty. Just as a person living in society is not free to act without considering others and does not have complete independence the same is true for nations, large and small. If Lithuanians do not realize that applies to Lithuania they are deluded.

Lithuania is well outside our region and interest. Foxy's parents were Lithuanian, but they have passed on. This poster should be addressing his concerns to Lithuanians rather than to Australians.

The author of this so-called discussion
goes by the name "Adomas" and well may we ask is he the
same "Adomas" who wrote - "Shocking results of survey in
Lithuania", in The Baltic Word?" That author goes by the
name Adomas Abromaitis.

If you look up The Baltic Word you will see that most
everything appears to be a criticism of the West and a
suggestion that things were better under Russian control.
Articles like - "Why NATO is dangerous for the Baltic
States," "Lithuania sacrifices old people for the sake
of the European Union," "That Lithuania is now a militarized
zone," and much more. A great deal is anti-US.

It makes one wonder what is this person trying to do on our
Forum? Influence the gullible?

Who knows what Adomas is up to, apart from fast becoming a serial pest.

Does he live in Australia, I wonder. If so, he could take his complaints to consulates in Adelaide, Sydney or Melbourne; and this year, the Lithuanian government intends to establish an embassy in Australia.

I don't know much about Lithuania, but there's nothing Googled that suggests it's a particularly bad place. 2.7 million people only, but with a very high suicide rate. We trade with them to the value of $114 million. My wife has a friend of Lithuanian descent, and there are about 16,000 others like her in Australia.

Apart from that, there is only Adomas's complaints - about which we can do absolutely nothing.

I get suspicious when someone persists in attacking
Western institutions and not a word against "Mother

Dear Foxy,

I do not support the state of Israel. It follows the pattern of the nations where Jews were second-class citizens. It is not right that non-Jews are second-class citizens in Israel. I believe there should be no second-class citizens in any nation. I believe people should have the right to believe or not to believe what they wish, and it should be no business of the government. I am neither a citizen of Lithuania or Israel even though my ancestors come from both places so I don't have a voice in either country. However, I am a human being and am concerned what happens to human beings in any country.

Thank You for sharing.

This is something on which we can both agree.

Dear Paul,

If Putin and his cohorts get their hands on the
Baltic States once again - the people will need more than
an umbrella or worries about the weather to deal with.
Lithuania has a choice - The West and their allies,
or Putin and his henchmen. The choice is clear as most
Lithuanians and their families who fled from the Soviet
Regime will testify.

Hi Foxy,

Who is this bloke, and why is he always putting up this stuff about Lithuania? I must admit I didn't read his link, is he a friend of GY's who accepts his topics, I don't know anything about it, I do believe in self determination for all peoples, including Lithuanians.

Here is Morrison and some clown from the public service attempting pathetic sabre-rattling in our part of the World, be it in a small way, but never the less its sabre-rattling.

Hi Paul,

I'm wondering about this bloke as well. He describes
himself as a "political scientist" and a former teacher.
Where did he teach? - and what are his qualifications?
None are listed. All a mystery. and why
is he here on this forum prattling on about
Lithuania and how bad it is for it to align
itself with the West instead of Russia.
I find it very curious. Putin is looking towards
the Baltic with very hungry eyes. And who knows
it's the Baltic now - but who's next? He's made himself
ruler for life - and the former KGB apparachik is seeking
territory. He's already begun with the Ukraine. We've got two
threats currently in Europe and Asia - Russia and China
looking at neighbouring regions with greed.

The planet could not tolerate under war.

Today's Australians are not like those of yesteryear.
Neither are the British, or the Germans, or the French,
or any one else in Europe.

Foxy,
Don't be too surprised when you find that many of today's Westerners are becoming more & more like the Germans of yesteryear.
We already have PC & other social indoctrination & only very recently they started 'Dob in a Job keeper cheat' because the mainly Labor orientated bureaucrats aren't doing their job !
