But you can see what SM had to say is total bunk, Murdoch owned many papers well before he started The Australian. The only other year this century The Australian made a small profit as far as I can tell was 2008. Back last century it was well known as a loss making concern, overall its never made one cent, but it was Rupert's love child and he kept it going.
