"Raelene Castle’s troubled three-year reign as Rugby Australia’s chief executive has come to an end after she telephoned RA chairman Paul McLean with her resignation on Thursday night.

Although she expressed her intention to fight as recently as Sunday — “You can’t let the bastards win,” she told The Australian — the unrelenting attacks wore her down and it may be that she has saved Rugby Australia from making the difficult decision to sack her."

Israel Folau is laughing all the way to the bank, as the players still on contract have lost 60% of their pay and he is still on 100% and the obese RA is on 0% and in disgrace.

Shadow Minister,
Yes, with a lot of help from stupidity ! It's time to realise Australia is a Nation, not a giant Rugby Club !

Excellent news. Natural justice following her persecution of Folau. Why RA employed such a silly female foreigner with an appalling accent to run a men's sport is inexplicable. And taxpayers won't have to contribute to her retirement fund.

Three strikes and you're out?

Raelene Castle's resignation should come as no
surprise to sports fans. She's had a very heavy
year in charge which included a costly legal
battle after the agreed - Board's decision to sack Israel
Folau, a poor World cup performance, and failure to
reach agreement on a broadcast deal.

She must be exhausted. A wise move to resign.

Foxy,

I think that it was made pretty clear that if she didn't resign she would be fired. She'd made it pretty clear that she had no intention of voluntarily walking away from the $800 000 p.a. job with the $114 000 bonus.

If she hadn't so completely cocked up handling Folau she might still be in the cushy job.

Shadow Minister,

Maybe you can give her a job as just an engineer at chez toi. After years spent working with all of those meatheads in football I'm sure she has the balls for it.

Shadow Minister,

There were many people and factors that led to
the car crash of a year for Raelene Castle, however
the CEO was at the wheel and she had to go.

As others have pointed out however, unfortunately this
means that the sporting landscape goes back to being
run overwhelmingly by men which is not a good thing
at a time when women's sport is on the rise and we need a
reflection of it in sporting board rooms and administrations.

Still, Castle's fate was sealed.

Foxy,

RA had ultimate control over all those car crashes and was to some extent the principle cause of them. The Folau debacle and the TV rights are a prime example of her incompetence.

The new CEO should be appointed on competence and not as a sop to gender tokenism. Rugby Australia can't afford another series of cock ups by an incompetent CEO.

Shadow Minister,

What makes you think that the next CEO if she's
female will be incompetent?
There's plenty of incompetent males in high positions.
Just take a look at some of our male leaders in government
and industry.

When you say "There's plenty of incompetent males in high positions." I take it you are implying Shadow Minister who is an engineering manager, which of course supports your claim.

Foxy,

I have no problem with female CEOs per se, however, I do have a problem when they are appointed because they are women instead of because they are the most competent. Just look at the failure of affirmative gender action such as the disaster that was Juliar.

I would ignore Mr 0 as he is a poorly educated troll.

given all of the nonsense about CEOs and gender, I wonder if any female leader would recommend injecting detergent to fight a virus.

good and stupid leaders have nothing to do with gender.

rugby union is hardly a booming sport, and I doubt whether anyone could have saved it from its decline and stupid competition that should have always be limited to Aust and NZ.

Shadow Minister,

Personally I cannot understand why any woman would want to be associated with a bunch of meathead footballers.

I reckon that is the underlying reason women make up only 10% of the engineering trade. Actually I have never heard a female engineer exclaim "We're just like doctors!". It seems to be only the 90% of meathead engineers that go around saying "Where just like doctors!".

Raelene is a bit of a 'meathead' herself. Meaty body as well. Putting women in jobs meant for men is pure virtue signalling from the lady boys who used to be men; the ones referred to as being pussy-whipped. Males and females are DIFFERENT.

What on earth are you talking about? Gillard ran an effective minority government which achieved a lot and was far more competent than Abbott.

Has anyone else noticed that General Motors, [including Holden] have been a total disaster area since they appointed a lady CEO.

Every lady state Premier has been a total disaster, present company included.

As mainstream education has become dominated by ladies the quality of our kids education, & the results they achieve have fallen substantially, & continue to fall.

The only lady PM thought her greatest claim to fame was the passing of more hindering red tape new laws per sitting of parliament than any other parliament.

As more news room staff, anchors & reporters jobs in TV news have been taken over by ladies the quality of news has slipped to being similar to what I believe is called moms net.

I could go on, but I think the point is made.

You say that the Abbott government was far more
competent that the Gillard government.

Tony Windsor, Rob Oakeshott and Bob Katter didn't
think so.

And there are many others who'd disagree with you.
She did remarkably well with a minority government
and such a wrecking-ball of an opposition - destruction
for destruction's sake.

Thank God the man's gone.

There is something odd about Tony Abbott.

He is very odd indeed. After taking that famous bite out of that onion he didn't ask any of the guys in his entourage if they wanted a bite as well.

Now that was a very odd thing for Tony Abbott to do! That is, not asking if anybody else wanted a bite of the onion.

Yeah, Onion Man, odd indeed. I was one of his supporters in the very early days but he lost me with Phil's Knighthood thing. A bloke could not be more out of touch with the electorate !
He turned out nearly as bad as any Labor PM we've had.
Morrison has good grip on the wheel but with a load of hangers-on he's finding it very hard to stay on the road to recovery.
He's already stuffed up by not lowering Public Service salaries during the Pandemic. It could have been a massive vote winner but he blew that one, let's hope he learns more about people soon.

Tony Abbott was obviously out of touch full stop.
The people of his electorate kicked him out.

As for competency and gender?

Sexual equality should not mean gender similarity or
a "unisex" society. It should not mean that women
will gradually adopt the characteristics of men or
that the genders will converge on some happy medium.

This is the 21st century and today many alternative
lifestyles and roles should be acceptable for both
men and women.

Surely our society today is individualistic and open
to change from the old stereotyping. Surely today
men and women should be able to explore a wide
variety of possible roles.

Hopefully, gone are the days when nurses where only
females, doctors were males, and so on.

True liberation from the restrictions of gender should
mean that all possible options are open and equally
acceptable for both sexes. That a person's individual
human qualities, their talent, and merit, rather than
his or her biological sex would be the primary measure
of that person's worth and achievement.

I'm sure that people like:

The Honourable Dame Quentin Bryce,
Julie Bishop,
Peta Credlin,
Natasha Stott Despoja,
Ita Buttrose,
Maggie Beer,
Gail Kelly,
Dr Catherine Hamlin,
Annabel Crabb,
Dr Kerryn Phelps,
Nova Peris,
Ashleigh Barty, just top name a few competent women,
would all agree.

Foxy,

"Hopefully, gone are the days when nurses where only
females, doctors were males, and so on"

Hopefully, the days when little old ladies and females, in general, will not suffer the perceived indignity of the attention of male nurses in intimate care are with us for a while yet.

The majority of nurses are still female and long may it be so.

Many, if not most, men prefer to be attended by female nurses and feel that intimate care by another man to be a bit off-putting; still, if one is sick enough...

still those with Abbottphobia manifesting after he stopped the boats which every regressive in this country said was impossible. Remember the push factors blah blah. The only thing that was pushed was the obvious fact they were totally wrong. In fact their was a number on olo wo claimed he could never become PM. Yep he managed to put egg all over the abc degenerates and getting rid of the breathing tax was another the regressives said was impossible. No wonder they hated him. His only failure was not to defend the Marxist propaganda from the abc.

Is Mise,

I was in hospital and rehab for almost six months.
I met women of all ages. None complained about the
gender of nurses looking after them as long as the
care was professional and competent. And it was.
The reality is that today - the old stereotyping
no longer works.

At least for most people.

Juliar's regime was one disaster after another. Starting with the carbon tax lie, 1200 people dying in boats and 50000 illegals arriving, and the Craig Thompson and Slipper debacles. Not to mention half the car manufacturers pulling up stumps and shedding 75% of it jobs. What an unmitigated cock up.

She only went into politics after being fired from her law firm after setting up dodgy slush funds for the unions and taking back handers. That Labor fired her for the moron Rudd just shows how bad things were.

P.S. Katter supported Abbott, Rob Oakeshott and Tony Whinger shafted their electorates and now are slightly more popular than syphilis.

You have to keep in mind that Shadow Minister is only vocationally trained to conduct tasks in a particular trade and is steeped in rote learning and memory skills. In his case it is engineering.

As such he lacks qualities that you and I take for granted, principally critical thinking and research skills.

So you shouldn't blame him for inadequacies that might prima facie be attributable to his person for he is but a mere reflection of his background.

As your education consisted entirely of rote learning of meaningless drivel, it appears that the only skills you have retained is to flip burgers and troll OLO.

After all this, you have poor language skills, a feeble grasp of history, and a drab and dreary existence and are at best an object of pity.
