safest places to be during a virus outbreak?

Was thinking tonight where's the best place to be during a virus outbreak like the current coronavirus crisis. Here's the start of my list from best to worst:
- Your own seafaring boat with 6 months supply of food
- The international space station
- A private island of a first world island country (such as Australia) which you control the access to
- An Antarctic research station
- Remote non-private island in/near the arctic with very limited contacted to the outside world
- Remote non-private island in the Pacific with limited contact to outside world (preferably owned by a first world country) such as Pitcain
- A remote cattle/sheep station in the Australian Outback or similar in Canada

I'm interested in other peoples lists so supply your own rankings in the comments.

Also which do you think would be the safest countries in general. Here's my top pick: Iceland.

Definitely not Sydney! Where up to 50% of the population is Chinese.

Hi Mr O,

Back in the Old Mans day, 1930's, there were newspaper reports of floods in China where up to 4 million people died. The Huang He (Yellow River) flood of 1931 was huge. The "general Aussie pub talk then was "Oh well, that's natures way of controlling their population...your shout!".

Should it come to pass that 4 million Aussies are wiped out by some virus, the survivors might be just as philosophical; "Oh well, that's natures way of controlling our population....your shout!"

The proportion of Sydney's population of Chinese background is about 10%. This includes Australian citizens born in China or other countries, or whose parents, grandparents, greatparents were; temporary residents working here who may or may not become citizens, and students who inject about $20 billion into the economy Australia-wide. None of these any more likely to give you the new virus than any non-Chinese Australian unless they, Chinese or non-Chinese, have been to Wuhan recently and were smuggled back into Australia bypassing immigration. You are in far more danger of dying of influenza.

If it wasn't for an hysterical media, we wouldn't know about every virus that popped up. The interest in this one will last about a week, then the ABC and other leftist scaremongers will have to find something else to bellyache about.

The best way to avoid disease from other countries is to stop immigration, particularly from China, but from all non-Western countries generally. We simply do not need these people and their nasty bugs.

thinkabit asks " the best place to be during a virus outbreak..."?

Indubitably the best place on the planet to be, virus or no virus, is Scarlett Johansson's bedroom.

.............

oh sorry I just noticed the name of the thread. You meant the SAFEST place to be...

In that case, the answer is Scarlett Johansson's bedroom.

Lots of money lost by Australian lobster exporters to China because eating events have been cancelled by the Chinese Communist Party for the duration of the virus. Wonder if they will expect Australians to buy them - the people they usually charge up to $150 a kilogram so that they can sell them to the Chinese much cheaper!

Another warning to exporters: get off your backsides and find markets in democratic, Western countries with decent health systems and respect for their populations. You are not dealing with a country or its people, fatheads. You are dealing with the CCP, which values none of those things.

A Pacific atoll with a Polynesian population.

Many of these are visited only 3 or 4 times a year by a small copra boat, which itself has very little contact with large areas of population.

Health care is somewhat limited, but it may become so in big cities. You may find the menu a little boring, & the recreation opportunities may pale after a while, but you should be pretty safe. The locals will be able to teach you how to survive on a rather limited offering, but they can be fun to be with, & won't demand you dress for dinner.

Hasbeen: Samoa? The measles epidemic there has made about 5800 people ill, and killed 83, out of a population of just over 200,000. If the new Wuhan virus had an equivalent effect in China, 43 million would become ill and about 600,000 die. Unless you had been vaccinated, you would be in greater danger in Samoa.

Ttbn. I suspect the Samoans are considering how to handle 'these people and their nasty bugs'. These people being Europeans who introduced many nasty, and fatal bugs to vulnerable populations across the world.

The Coronavirus is a conspiracy by vaccine producers to force their expensive products onto the vulnerable public.
It's a rip-off.
Anthony Mundine thinks likewise too.

diver dan,

ARE YOU NUTS!

I suppose you also think that the Black Death of 1348 was a conspiracy as well. Oh, and don't forget to mention World War 2 and the 1982 Academy Awards and oh yes of course who could forget that other great conspiracy the Moon landing in 1969.

I only have one other question for now: Are you a graduate engineer like Shadow Minister who asked in one of his posts on 30.01.2020: "Why are arts graduates pedophiles?"

Cossomby I said isolated atoll, not some high tourist trap island.

Some where like Nuguria or Kapingamarangi, way off the beaten track, with plenty of coconuts & an ocean full of fish.
