Greetings,

Our CE at Online Opinion suggested I post this here.

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) is a new web based community organisation for the promotion of rail throughout Australia.
We are presently concentrating on the Queensland Election. You are welcome to visit RAIL Back On Track.

Railways were critical to the early development of Australia, and in this time of energy and infrastructure crisis, we believe railways will again be the practical solution to the nation's transport woes. Long haul freight, passenger and commuter transport will be best provided for by rail.

Best wishes

I am behind your cause 100%, Australia really does need to invest in rail and mass transit infastructure all across the country. Though we aren't as bad as the USA we're a decade behind Europe and WAY too car reliant, that really needs to change if we want to embrace the comforts we take for granted in the near (very near) future.

Best of luck.

Rail has its place just as does public transport, alternative fuel sources, a much more efficient and frugal use of energy, etc, within the new paradigm of greatly increased fuel prices (just ahead of us a year or three).

Long-haul freight should certainly be concentrated on to rail…. and off our highways!

I have long cherished the idea of a comprehensive rail service across our wide land. And have never understood why the infrastructure has never been fully created.

Rail centres could be established on the fringes of towns and cities for further distribution by trucks into the urban areas. These rail centres would also facilitate the lack of public transport in our outer suburban areas.

Long haul trucking and the dangers to both the truckies and the problems created by oversize vehicles on our highways would also be reduced.
