It's not just private big business that has slipped into virtue-signalling and social engineering mode; government-owned Australia Post will soon promote same sex marriage with the issue of a $1 postage stamp during October this year.

There will be two stamps: one advertising 'Marriage Equality', the other advising that 'Love is Love'.

The stamps are "celebratory" according to Peculiar Post. (Source: Culture Watch).

My father-in-law encouraged my interest in stamp
collecting. He was an avid collector and he passed
on his albums to me before he died. Although I'm not
as keen as he was.

Anyway, I checked the Stamp Bulletin for September-
October 2019, and there's quite a few interesting
new issues that are going to be released:

1) Murchison Meteorite 1969-2019
2) Beautiful Cities
3) Norfolk Island: Mutiny on the Bounty
4) Marriage Equality
5) Centenary of First England to Australia Flight
6) Seed Banking Australia
7) Fair Dinkum Aussie Alphabet Part 5

Australia Post has over decades
issued stamps marking significant historical and
cultural events in this country.

Of course none of us are obligated to buy these stamps.
We have such a wide choice to choose from. Anyone objecting
to any stamp issued - can abstain from its purchase.
Or alternatively - Australia Post also has personalised
stamps that one can choose with one's own photo and
design.

It's not Australia Post that is putting its "Stamp of
Approval on SSM." That was done by the voluntary postal
survey and the people who took part. All Australia Post
is doing is maintaining the tradition of issuing stamps
marking significant historical and cultural events that
have occurred.

Like Xmas stamps, you can ask for religious or non religious. The choice is up to the individual.

ttbn, all these hang-ups of yours. Why do you bother getting out of bed in the mornings?

Does that mean that normal people can insist on stamps that depict normal procreative society without being persecuted ?

Paul,

You really are a juvenile idiot. I made no comment at all. Merely reported information from a source that most people here would not read.

Yes you did ttbn, the words of a juvenile idiot "Peculiar Post" (a derogatory slight at Australia Post on your part), those words are your comment and not contained in the homophobic article by Bill Muehlenburg. Bill seems to spend a lot of time nutting off about gays.

- It's a little off-topic;
But whatever happened to those great Aussie Christmas cards;
You know the ones which had hand drawn pictures of Santa and Reindeer at the beach and in the bush?
I can't remember seeing them for years now.

Bring Aussie back!!

Apparently most people don't get the connotations of what Australia Post is doing, in line with other Big Business, which is getting bigger and more influential than government. They think it's about SSM and what terrible ttbn thinks about that.

People are like the politicians they vote for - thick. They think of Big Business only as robber barons ripping them off, when business is becoming a real political threat.

Why do they think the Xi Zinping insists on having members of the CCP on the boards of Big Business in China? They don't think, of course, but Xi has openly declared that he will never allow business to get the better of government - like they are doing in the West, particularly here, in Australia. Qantas, Bunnings, the NRL, mining companies and so on - now Australia Post - telling is what do and what to think.

AC,

Thanks for the 'little topic' insult. I know you write yards of boring bullshite thinking it makes you erudite, but it's the little things that trip us up in the long run - gradually do us in because they are below our notice.

Dear AC,

Australia Post usually does have a selection of
Aussie Christmas Cards every year. As do most
Department Stores. They're a popular item to send
to overseas friends.

Then there's the online store :

Hey ttbn,

I feel like I've missed something here.
When I said "It's a little off topic", I was referring to my own comment about Christmas cards rather than stamps.

- I was actually apologising in advance for my comment being not directly related to stamps -

In regards to your opening comment, I'm not sure what I was supposed to say other than I don't support businesses and corporations taking social justice upon themselves.
I'm sure you and others would expect this position from me.
As a business they only exist to provide me a product or a service.

It seems as though you maybe wanted to give me a serve anyway?
In any case, I appreciate the criticism, it keeps me grounded and you're certainly entitled to your own opinions.

Hey Foxy,
Thanks for the info regards stamps and Christmas cards.
I think I'm going to have to ask my mum about the ones I'm thinking of.
I've got 'Roald Dahl' stuck in my head for some reason, but I'm not sure that's the right person.

I just don't recall seeing the particular Christmas cards I remember from the 80's for a long time.
There's no way anyone in Australia would not remember those cards as they were very common at the time.

mhaze,

Now days - stamps no longer have to be licked.

Neither do envelopes.

You only have to worry about choosing appropriate
packaging for your parcels and making sure that
they're tightly and safely sealed. The post office
staff can help you with that.

Foxy,

You just can't help yourself. Mhaze knows that he doesn't need to lick stamps. You might have missed my last message to you because the thread was moved out by a new one.

"I am not trying to demean your opinion; opinions are like backsides, everyone has one. But you are making sweeping statements claiming qualifications you simply do not have. You are no more qualified to hand down findings on American politics than anyone else. Even if living in America helped, which it does not - we are only talking about opinions here - you have no proof that you have been anywhere near America - ever. Who cares. You are not harming anyone with your claims, real or imaginary. But, I assure you, you are no better equipped to express opinions than anyone else on this site; and everyone else thinks their opinion is more valid than yours. Get used to it. And believe me, lady, I am in a position to "judge" you - if you feel you are being judged. And judging you is not being 'uncivil'. I'll judge anyone I choose to judge, based on what they say and how they say it; and I am sure other people do the same with me and everyone else. Judging people and situations is a vital component of survival - and it's OK to do it just because you want to. Madam Foxy doesn't make the rules. Short of abuse and bad language, anything goes, until our coordinator says otherwise. And, don't you dare call me a bully. That's something you do a good job of yourself, relying on your gender to get a free pass from a few of the old goofs here who sometimes ovederdo the 'gentleman' bit. Ooh, sexism. Off with his head!

I know lots of non-Left women out there who don't feel it's necessary to nag and nag if someone disagrees with them; they don't need to win every argument going. Why can't we have some of them? Perhaps you are frightening them off with your particular brand of bullying."

ttbn,

I don't make sweeping statements. I make statements
based on evidence and facts that can be verified.

As to where I've lived, worked, traveled,
my qualifications, experiences, or anything
else about me? And what you choose to believe
is out of my control.

You display your ignorance and
bigotry, in making narrow, limited assumptions based
on your own small mindedness and narrow world views.
Therefore you are in no position to judge either me
or anyone else for that matter. Comparing anyone
else to yourself and your own experiences is very
limiting and one-eyed. However, it's a typical
trait of older uneducated men.

But there's no need for you to be jealous and envious
of other people. You too can be a "know it all".

A good place to start for you would be to try reading
something other than just sources like the catallaxy Files or
Bill Muehlenburg and his culture watch.

Broadening your outlook may help. All though I suspect
you're too set in your ways to change.

Your monkey-like behaviour of throwing faeces
is not a very good look. It's neither intelligent
nor attractive.

Monkeys belong in zoos not discussion forums.

ttbn,

OUCH! Mate what were you thinking?
You should know by now that a certain female of the species does not accept any criticisms or challenges.
You are quite right in your assertions, she has an almost habitual way of stating the obvious.
Over and over a-bloody-gain.
Apparently if we are not of her camp and mindset we are made of lesser stuff than herself and therefore we must bow to her greater ego.
Anyway, keep it up, there are not enough people on here to challenge such mis-guided mindsets.
Eventually something might get through and we can see a much improved and open minded, and realistic person evolve from the rubble of a mis-guided and patronising one we hear from today.

ALTRAV,

Go on admit it.

What would you guys do without me on this forum.

You'd then have to attack each other instead of me.

I'm used to the baying of hounds on my heels.

I usually end up leading the pack.

So bring it on.

Foxy,

I had to giggle.
Was the phrasing of your previous post intentional? or was it an ironic coincidence?
"used to the baying of hounds on my heels".
I assume you intentionally chose the words, because of the reference to hounds, is a follow on to your nom de plume, "FOXY".
Or was it so obvious, that I should have assumed it to be intentional?
I have said many times, I don't get sarcasm, so that's why I ask so many "obvious" questions.
It's another reason I don't like the written word; I can't pick up on inflections.
Anyway, either way, I don't need much to amuse me, I'm with Monty Python, and "always look on the bright side of life".
