In the past few days Morrison and his new team have scrapped the NEG, said that getting power prices down is more important than living up to the Paris 'deal', said it wasn't the government's job to provide certainty (ie guaranteed profits)to the energy sector and is now talking about reducing immigrant numbers and the make-up of those numbers.

Seems Morrison is trying to tread the line between adopting almost all Abbott's policies while not looking like he's adopting all Abbott's policies. Adopt 90% and try to get kudos for rejecting the unimportant 10%.

That could work. Its not the first time a politician has been able to appear moderate by being a little less radical than those to his left and/or right.

This is why Abbott is now so important to the Libs. He can articulate the correct policies for the nation and get them implemented by those who pretend to be not doing his bidding.

It might be too late for adopting Abbott's policies to provide a win for the government, but at least its a win for the country.

"Will Scott Morrison follow Donald Trump and take Australians into a World War 3"

Unlike his lauded predecessor, Trump hasn't yet started any wars, let alone WW3. Indeed so far he's made enormous progress in stopping a number of actual or potential conflicts around the world.

But why let the facts get in the way of what we've told to believe?

I've been reading readers comments in the various newspapers.
A reader writing in The Age (2018/08/27)
made the observation that -
"...there has been a change of leadership but the cause of
turmoil remains embedded. The fact that one man, Tony Abbott,
can year after year paralyse government exposes a serious
flaw in Australian democracy. Cartoons wryly depicting Abbott
as a wrecking ball were all too accurate.. It was not sufficient
for a moderate leader, Malcolm Turnbull to relegate this bitter
agent of destruction to the backbench. The person was allowed
to spread with massive costs to industry through time
wasted. There must be built into our democratic system a trigger
that allows mid-term dismissal free of party influence."

"The electorate must be able to say "enough" and then promote a
genuine representative who puts people ahead of perverse,
abhorrent ambition."

Nick Greiner made it quite clear recently that Mr Abbott
should use his abilities to fight the Opposition rather than
engage in internal wars.

The question was raised - "Should Abbott leave Parliament?"
Can the Liberal Party have their focus 100 per cent on
having the Coalition in the best position to win next year?
That is something that the new party leader and PM
needs to consider.

Nick Greiner said he was supportive of Labor-like reforms that
would give party members a say in choosing the Parliamentary
Leader. He said, "Certainly I think it's something that
should be on the agenda."

Foxy,
Turnbull was a dud with socialistic leanings. He was an embarrassment in relation to the 'utegate' issue and his attempts to save the world by changing household light bulbs. Prior to that he led the republicans. some people think he was a Labor plant anyway. It was a surprise that he was elected leader the first time and lucky for us Abbott saved us from having a carbon tax. Further surprise when he was elected again as leader. If the party did not want Abbott as leader surely they could find somebody other than Turnbull out of 80 plus. Again he has shown he wanted a carbon tax. He is thick as a brick.

Morrison did a good job as immigration Minister and was responsible for stopping the boats, which many said could not be done. He handled the critisism well. Now he needs to ditch the Paris agreement, having scrapped the NEG. The wheels fell off the global warming sham ages ago. Mother nature determines climate, not us punny humans,

Dear Banjo,

Quite frankly I am excited about what's coming up
next. I'm just going to sit back and watch what
develops. Hopefully, it will be for the good of the
country. At least these past recent events just may
be a lesson to our politicians not to take voters
for granted.

Anyway, I am looking forward to the months ahead and
waiting to see what develops next. Fingers-crossed that
it will be good not bad.

Wagga by election was at least in part powered by yet another Liberal forced to leave mid term after he was unmasked in this states ICAC,not unusual in the NSW Libs, however the swing against that party was close to thirty percent the NSW Premier has placed the blame on her federal party,s recent actions, we will see.
