'Daft' is certainly a good word to describe the idea of re-introduction of wild animals that are a threat to wealth-producing animals and a big cost to graziers. 'Stupid', 'dumb', 'idiotic', 'self-indulgent, 'deliberately provocative' anti- whitey' also come to mind.

It is known Dingo,s have a roll to play in their natural areas that is a positive, here near coastal NSW tree changers are in trouble, settling in hilly bush areas they are finding their Lamas and such are being killed by what they insist are wild dogs,in parks they are Dingo, but on private land wild dogs, not sure what can be done about that

According to Leonard Vallance of the Victorian Farmers'
Federation - the people who want to introduce the dogs need to be aware that it would come with a responsibility and a cost to them. Dingoes are a threat to farmed animals particularly sheep. The animals would need to be fenced in at a cost to the land management authorities, not the farmers. And farmers would also have to be compensated for lost livestock. Apparently this re-introduction may still be decades away. The pros and cons need to be discussed - and the draft plan is just that - a draft. They are also looking at re-introducing other species - such as emus, quoll and a species of raptor birds. Posted by Foxy, Thursday, 5 July 2018 7:48:15 PM

//Is this a goer or a pipe dream?//
Your link doesn't work. Thought you'd like to know. I found the article anyway with search engine technology. It's a pipe dream, Is Mise. The fundamental problem that any endeavour like this faces is that that the wild dogs that are already there are quite capable of producing fertile hybrids by mating with any introduced dingoes, and you just wind up with more hybrid wild dogs. Back to square one. If canine genetics worked differently it would be okay, but it isn't like that. You can't isolate the dingos from the wild dogs. I mentioned wild dogs and Dingo,s here but in truth the tree dwellers call Dingo,s wild dogs, here in near coastal hills, long ago domestic dogs did breed with Dingo,s, it is not unusual to see black Dingo,s here, in the more distant hills or walking on highway verges, doubt we have the right to wipe them out but that will not stop that taking place

Belly,
No problem, wipe 'em out in the wild, they're a feral pest anyway. http://www.nationalgeographic.com.au/australia/dingoes-arent-australian.aspx Posted by Is Mise, Friday, 6 July 2018 5:25:08 PM

//No problem, wipe 'em out in the wild, they're a feral pest anyway.//
But aren't the NSW Shooters, Farmers and Fishers dedicated to preserving feral pests? Or does that only apply to brumbies? http://theconversation.com/passing-the-brumby-bill-is-a-backward-step-for-environmental-protection-in-australia-97920 Posted by Toni Lavis, Friday, 6 July 2018 6:57:21 PM

Toni,
No, it also applies to deer. In my humble opinion, they are wrong; the brumbies should be wiped out in National Parks as should deer which also do a lot of damage. Posted by Is Mise, Friday, 6 July 2018 7:12:04 PM

//In my humble opinion, they are wrong//
It's not just that they're wrong; it's that they're untrustworthy. They always make a big song and dance about how they embody true conservationist values... and you're always right up the front cheerleading for them. But when it comes down to the actual vote, it turns that they'll talk the talk but not walk the walk. Way to shoot a whopping great hole in your credibility, NSW S,F&F. "No problem, wipe 'em out in the wild" Good on ya Issy. Can always rely on you to come out with the 'Big Bazooka' solution!

News this morning ABC online, tells how getting rid of them is impacting on the environment, badly, remember this country has more Kangaroos that it had on white arrival.

Paul,
Isn't this Brumby fiasco down to a Greens' "Own goal"? Posted by Is Mise, Saturday, 7 July 2018 7:56:01 AM

"Reintroducing dingoes into the wild is one of the goals outlined in a draft strategy for the joint management of six parks and reserves inside Dja Dja Wurrung Country.
The strategy would involve shared management of the parks between the land's traditional owners and Parks Victoria.
"Native apex predators, such as the Gal Gal (dingo), provide an overall benefit to biodiversity and ecosystem function, including through their interactive roles with medium-sized predators, such as foxes and cat," the draft plan said.
