The pressure is not for vegies but for trees.
"Palm oil firms in Malaysia and Indonesia are under increasing pressure by major Western retailers and consumer goods brands, many of which use palm oil in their products, to halt the expansion of plantations that lead to forest clearance."

So coal seam gas is under pressure to keep up your strawberries , pumpkins and avocado lightly crushed on toasted rye bread with feta and capers drizzled with virgin olive oil .

Is it right to impose values on other countries?

I think you'll find that just as often as not, these kinds of things have nothing to do with values, but more to do with Capitalism.
You invest in the beef producers you want, then you pay environmentalists to go after your target industry.

Obviously 'someone else' GAINED a 35 million dollar beef contract, or someone wanted Costa Rica to go down the toilet.
Maybe they wanted to impose on these peoples incomes so they'd be forced to sell their rainforest / cattle land to globalist carbon traders; or any number of other less honourable reasons.
There's always some geopolitical motive.

Now as your topic ' Is it right to impose values on other countries?'
You should be discussing Soros instead.

Is it right for rich philanthropists use their money to meddle in the domestic affairs of other countries?
- That's what this topic should've been about.

Is it right to impose values on other countries?
That depends of whether those values will help
or not. To pass on information as to how to improve
people's lives can be beneficial. But to try to
change their culture - could be detrimental.

As we know the culture of every society is
unique and there is variation among cultures.
Fox example women in traditional Arab societies must cover
the entire body and even the face. American women may expose
their faces but usually must keep their breasts and the
entire pelvic region concealed, while women in many parts
of Africa may expose their breasts and buttocks but not
the genital region. So the range of cultural variation is
immense. And in many cases very difficult to change.

We all have our own shared ideas about what is good,
right, and desirable. However to impost those on to
other people is something we have to be careful in doing
because people usually conform to the values of their
own culture. They follow social expectations automatically
without question. We all think and act in ways that are
to a great extent shaped by the society we live in, though
we are seldom aware of this fact. For the most part, we
behave the way we do because "that's the way it's done".

Julia got 2 for the price of 1. Stopped Indonesia getting cattle , stopped Aust cattle exports and lost the PM job . She promised to ban illegal timbers from Indonesia , kiss Orangutans and give them ants , termites and crickets to eat . Tigers eat Orangutans and can be stopped by destroying their forests. Or by importing tiger rugs and serving tiger hamburgers on rain-forest wood plates.

Yes I agree. I then question a vegetarian cookbook, which says:

"Being mindful of what we eat and how it is grown, harvested, marketed and slaughtered is the key to a more environmentally humane and environmentally sound diet."

"One thing that the compilers of this book are all agreed on is that in our society we eat too much meat."

Being concerned about the future of the natural world, humans depend on the Earth. The principle of telling others what they take on, or not and making these people feel somewhat guilty for showing disregard to someone else's views or values is something I question.

The book itself has many cultural recipes in it, from countries which OXFAM supports which I applaud. I do question the need to cover matters such as politics, environment and living simpler lifestyles.

No, this topic is not that simple. It is a broad issue, about questioning the imposition of values onto others, involving all people worldwide. Such imposition in my view is occurring far too much.

The Islamic communist ABC did a doco on wasting grain in Aust and the West to produce meat. Oxfam also does ads about giving a pig or duck to someone overseas. To eat . So there are protests:

"Oxfam and World vision Animal expoitation
If you are against killing animals for food dont support these charities
14 Oct 2011
As advertised here, you can buy any animal you want to donate to people to use these animals for food. You can even buy a bulk of farm animals or even a oxen and plow. This is disgusting! "
