The ABC reports that, instead of encouraging Senator Parry to come clean when he consulted them about his suspected dual citizenship, senior government members allegedly advised him to stay quiet until the High Court ruled on Joyce et al. He spoke to "various Ministers".

These are the deceitful people we haphazardly put into Parliament. Senator Mitch Fifield was named as one of the people Senator Parry asked for advice.

A 'Daily Telegraph' editorial decries this advice by senior government members to Senator Parry, and the decision to “keep quiet and hope the court decision might to the another way” as being “disgraceful”.

Did you not expect politicians to act like politicians?
"These are the deceitful people we haphazardly put into Parliament."
I assume this kind of 'deceit' would be par for the course for pollies.
And if so, is it really an individual politicians fault; or the culture of politicians and of Parliament itself?

AC,

It is the individuals who make up the culture. Politics is now a business run for the benefit of these individuals; we are useful to get them in, and that's our only importance to them.
