Unless Gladys Berejiklian; and John Barilaro; decide to block his efforts, Philip Donato will introduce a bill this week to restore the mandatory requirement to keep registered nurses in nursing homes."
The Bill was defeated by the Government, seems that Gladys and John didn't think that it was a good idea or was it just sour grapes because Phillip took one of their prized seats at the Orange by-election?
As has been pointed out on social media, in prison, the worst criminals have a registered nurse to attend to them in an emergency but if they were in a nursing home then the same level of care would not apply.
For 46 years it was a requirement that nursing homes had to have a registered nurse 24/7 but because of a hick-up in Federal law a few years ago a loophole was created which, it seems, our State Government in NSW, is happy to see continue; saves money for the operators of the homes.
