the SA Government has dealt with extremist promoting power supplies that don't work much of the time. Now old and young people suffer through 40 degree days with no air conditioning. To bad for business's trying to operate. The gw alarmist still fly around the globe sitting in their air conditioned offices (powered by coal). That's what happens when you take the advice of extremist and ignore common sense.

Maybe the gas generator was off.

Thanks Nick for parroting Weatherill's defence, appreciated.
Mind you if Jay is so sure of himself why not just come out with it? This is a monumental balls up and just wait until our Victorian idiot Andrews closes coal generators. No history and no collective memory anymore. In the 1990's the Victorian generators openly discussed a "Brown out" assisting price increases. Guess what happened? That was a rhetorical question of course. It seems hard to believe that they can get prices up even more but perhaps we need industry shutdown because of power pricing, what then Nick? Gee whiz, you mean getting rid of the
carbon tax did not make electricity prices fall? Shock horror - what a surprise! Posted by Foxy, Thursday, 9 February 2017 12:34:28 PM

"Greens' leader Senator Di Natale,...Something of an own goal?"
The Greens, "Do as we say, not do as we do". Hypocrisy. Posted by leoj, Thursday, 9 February 2017 12:34:31 PM

Dr Di Natale's comment goes against
historical facts. The journalist Ben Eltham sums things up rather well: "Bernardi will make much of his rugged individualism. Conservatives often like to see themselves as lone rangers, astride a horse on the great plains of history. But the price of individualism is isolation. Bernardi is about to find out just how lonely a party of one can be." Eltham argues that: "Even if there is a big potential voter base on the extreme right of politics as Bernardi seems to believe, this territory is crowded and contested - One Nation, the Liberal Democrats, Family First, Citizens Electoral Council, Katter's Australia Party, Shooters, fishers and Farmers - are all jockeying for position in this space." "The last century of Australian democracy is littered with the wreckage of failed break-ups. Many parties split. Some splinter groups prosper, but few last." In the end the two major parties have successfully defeated or re-absorbed the challengers. Posted by Foxy, Thursday, 9 February 2017 12:51:10 PM

Runner, it's 45 outside, and I haven't turned the air con on yet, just a fan, though admittedly I'm taking it easy today and staying inside, using few electrical appliances which add heat to the house. (It's a good excuse to laze back with a book and the mobile phone).
Why? I live in an old house, built for the climate. Keeps my electricity usage and bill really low. So while we need to fix the power supply, it would help if we went back to building energy efficient houses. Posted by Cossomby, Thursday, 9 February 2017 1:47:47 PM

It seems the fact of gas not being turned on was Wetherill's defence which he did come out with. Just answering the comment that it's the windpower's fault. Pricing is a different fish, none of my business. Money gouging can be done in any set-up , maybe Auspost owns electricity who knows? Posted by nicknamenick, Thursday, 9 February 2017 1:53:29 PM

Green Senator di Nasty calling anyone at all an extremist! Now, that's rich!

Ben Eltham is so inner city media: superficial, predictable and hip. Smug. Sneering. Echo chamber.
Cory Bernadi's Press Club address back in 2014. He is a commitment politician. "...I’m not criticising existing or previous long-term serving senators. They’re an inspiration, they’ve done an extraordinary job. I’m just looking to the future to think how can we refresh and renew people’s faith in the role of our parliamentarians. So in conclusion, today I do want to make an announcement. I want to make an announcement that I want to form a movement; a movement within Australian politics, if you will. A movement to try and regain some of that trust that has been lost. The ideas I’ve outlined here today are simply that: ideas. It’s not about my conservative views. It’s not about the left, it’s not about the right, it’s about doing what I think is right. It’s about opening up a conversation within the beltway to reflect the views from outside the beltway; discussing ideas that will help restore our faith in the political system, our parliament, our MPs and our political parties. Indeed, I’m accustomed to this: I may end up being the only member of this movement. But I would say all it takes is one person. I do not deign to compare myself with that famous ‘Modest Member’, Bert Kelly; he was modest after all. I want to use him as an example of what can be achieved when one person stands against the accepted dogmas of the time. Kelly stood alone in the opposition to protectionism in the ’60s and ’70s. .. But in an environment where people crave honesty from their representatives, on many occasions I have proven that I am willing to put principles above politics and conviction above convenience. Disillusionment with politics is growing; results overseas and even our own elections are reflecting that.." http://www.corybernardi.com/national_press_club_address Posted by leoj, Thursday, 9 February 2017 2:23:22 PM

As a single Senator essentially representing himself
Bernardi joins fellow Senator crossbenches like David Leyonhjelm, Derryn Hinch, Jacqui Lambie as solo operators in the upper house. He's an experienced legislator and could have a significant influence on government bills. However beyond that he will need to cut deals and make alliances, activities for which he has so far showed little inclination. As I stated earlier. Interesting times ahead. Is Bernardi an extremist? I guess we should ask Tony Abbott. Posted by Foxy, Thursday, 9 February 2017 2:32:07 PM

Cory is an extremist. He pointed out the alarmist fraud and threats by Muslim Immigration 20 years ago. As his predictions have been 100% accurate the tantrum throwing left have nothing left to do but to demonise.

Dear runner,
What predictions exactly have been 100 per cent accurate? Could you give us a link and more specifics thanks. Otherwise your arguments are simply fostering division and difference and merely strengthens unwanted stereotypes and cultural rifts. Things that a truly free and open society should seek to avoid. Posted by Foxy, Thursday, 9 February 2017 2:48:46 PM

Oh Foxy your insinuation that Cory could be an extremist is fostering harmony and love is it? Being the expert at quoting links do a little research and you will see that Cory warned of the gw alarmist implications and terrorist acts the division caused in society where Islam takes a stronghold. He pointed out the fiddling of climate 'data' a long time ago. I think the left tantrum throwers are far more likely to destroy our society than Cory as an ' extremist'.

Dear runner,
I'm going by what I've read and the man's own comments on various topics that were extreme to say the least, that even Mr Abbott distanced himself from and at one stage asked Mr Bernardi to resign. He was replaced by Sinodinos. Google the issues for yourself. You don't have to take my word for it. Posted by Foxy, Thursday, 9 February 2017 3:13:09 PM

The power of one, Bert Kelly, "Kelly renamed his column "Modest Farmer" and it was published successively in the Australian Financial Review, The Bulletin and The Australian. He was made Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in 1980. Survived by his wife, Lorna and three sons, Kelly's funeral was attended by former Labor Prime Minister Gough Whitlam and Ray Evans, the former head of Western Mining Corporation and president of the right-wing H. R. Nicholls Society."
"No private member has had as much influence in changing a major policy of the major parties." — Gough Whitlam As a commitment politician himself and straight as a die, Cori Bernaldi says he takes his lead from Kelly. Good for him, regardless of whether one agrees with his politics or not. Here is another option, the hypocritical, no-ideas career politician up to her ears in political intrigue and gamesmanship, who now labels anyone opposed to gay marriage as a 'homophobe', but up until recently she was opposed to it herself, http://m.smh.com.au/federal-election/brown-horrified-at-wongs-antigay-marriage-stance-20100726-10rwj.html Or the Greens leader who forgot his property, underpaid nannies and hopes that Lee Rhiannon and her cronies might not get reported for their obvious opposition. Kelly O'Dwyer put it so well:
"Australia has no tolerance for Parliamentarians on ego trips. They want to know that Parliamentarians who are sent to Canberra are focused on their interests and focused on the broader national interest." And former Senator Sean Edwards also stated: "It appears that it is a gross departure - certainly into a six year term - what people would have expected. I would prefer to see Senator Bernardi stay within the Liberal Party and do the work that all the members that preselected him expect..." Posted by Foxy, Thursday, 9 February 2017 5:06:34 PM

any wind out there in SA today or are people to busy cleaning out their freezers from all the failures thanks to idiotic Green ideology?

There's a nice warm breeze in SA drying out the freezers thanks runner. It's just right for burning the gas power that some idiot fossil fueler switched off, saying it's too expensive or some weak economy like that.

With runner and Leo W orbiting politically somewhere to the right of Pluto it is understandable that they would perceive Greens leader Richard Di Natale as extreme, they most likely perceive Malcolm Turnbull as extreme. With Corny Banana now out in their orbit, he would be perceived as perfectly moderate. Runner with all those spot on predictions, is Corny Banana the new messiah who is about to deliver you to the promised land?
Leo W, how are the Fabians going these days? Posted by Paul1405, Tuesday, 14 February 2017 5:13:57 AM
