Say no to 'carbon credits'

It has been recently revealed that the Adelaide City Council has been buying buying 'carbon credits', costing ratepayers a lot of money.

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/messenger/city/adelaide-city-council-all-but-abandons-buying-interstate-carbon-credits-looks-to-local-options/news-story/de2f3926d8fd1088f7e9b3bdb6b874ce

Councillors have voted the program down, after finding out the costs of the move, saying more should be done locally.

Governments worldwide are undertaking a range of schemes, that are similar to Adelaide City Council or undertaking environmental programs locally, to make themselves look environmentally friendly, but are still supporting the local oil industry for example.

When will these types of public relations exercises be put to an end?

dumbed down people voting for Governments who have rushed into renewables are largely responsible for the insane lack of power in SA over the last couple of days. How long before the gullible wake up to the gw alarmist thieving from the workers?

runner,

Why are you spreading lies about renewable energy?

Though the lack of power is certainly insane, the conclusion that renewables were in any way to blame for SA's blackouts occurring or taking so long to recover from was refuted yesterday. The pylons would have blown over even if we were still totally reliant on fossil fuels for electricity generation.

I'm really not surprised that the state is doing such things in the backend. They still do have to comply with the requirements and bylaws that govern all this emissions and stuff. At the end of the day, they have to stabilise that decrease in pollution before they can afford to decrease their stake in carbon credits.
