Hi Poirot,
Well, a very good result for Labor, win or lose. The worse possible result for Turnbull, should he be pushed to form a minority, or at best a slim majority government with a hostile Senate. The red neck conservative commentators (Shy Channel) are this morning trying desperately to fuel Labor leadership speculation, a nonsense in my view. As you know I'm not a Labor supporter, although I'm very sympathetic to the cause. No mention of Abbott and other anti Turnbull Conservatives and a future leadership challenge to the hog tied liberal himself. Posted by Paul1405, Sunday, 3 July 2016 10:07:05 AM

Hi paul,
A couple of moments stood out last night. One was the CH7 panel (where I ended up after the quite stayed ABC coverage) surmising that Mal may not emerge to give a speech...and Alan Jones reacting to that by speaking into the camera to Mal as if he was trying to coax a jumper down from a window ledge...Lol! The other was Turnbull's entirely graceless and petulant speech when he did emerge. It was almost embarrassing in its churlishness. Oh..and Bolt's quick-off-the-mark column denouncing Turnbull - excerpts: "MALCOLM Turnbull has lost everything except his job as Prime Minister — and that could be next. I doubt he’ll last to the next election. Yes, the Coalition has won the election, but by a disastrously small margin that leaves it almost powerless, Turnbull humiliated and the country damned." "For Turnbull, this will be almost as devastating as losing the election: he will be PM with almost no authority, no mandate and no popularity." http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/index.php/heraldsun/comments/column_turnbulls_pathetic_win_leaves_him_destroyed/ Posted by Poirot, Sunday, 3 July 2016 10:23:58 AM

Both Turnbull and Shorten are a sign of the times, egocentric and self promoting, always in your face.
Although Shorten has gone considerably further to demonstrate the lying, step on your face, anything goes win at any cost self interest that has become so common as to be a feature of Australian culture. That and envious interference in your neighbour's back yard. Also a sign of the times was the media's frivolous treatment of the election campaign. The refusal to properly challenge the unsupportable claims and even outright lies, whoppers such as the claim that universal health care was threatened if one side was elected. That makes a mockery of the media's claims to special treatment where they transgress against individual privacy, for example. The standards have dropped and the once despised tabloid hacks rule. Only to be expected where the politicians have been such a sorry lot of self-entitled, self-indulgent squibs who cannot be trusted to protect freedom of speech. Good to see Tony Windsor get the Big A. A self-interested clown who proved himself to be treacherous to those who elected him before. Posted by onthebeach, Sunday, 3 July 2016 12:43:20 PM

I find it truly surprising that of the votes counted
the Coalition thus far has 65 seats and Labor has 67 with 13 seats remaining in doubt. We were told that it would be a close election- but few could have predicted this result. What happens now? The following link explains the possibilities: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-07-03/election-result-what-happens-now/7564250 Posted by Foxy, Sunday, 3 July 2016 3:45:37 PM

A little rich considering that the greens were founded on buggery and have had one ex candidate arrested for kiddie porn.
Well we can wrap this post up as the two labor sycophants Tony Whinger and Rob Bullshot have been convincingly kicked to the kerb.
