Are we in danger of being swamped by security?

We all know the Pauline Hanson related comment.....but I am becoming really ticked off, with the increasing levels of security guards, pretty much swamping our nation and telling people what to do, very much due to overseas terrorist attacks.

Recently I was on a tram, with my wheeled shopping trolley, and a security guard asked and was pushing me to move down into another spot on the tram.

These guards have only been recently introduced onto the tram network and I am concerned more "full on" security officers, will be dictating lives and telling people what to do in Australia.

I really wanted to kick this guy up the buttocks. I mean are more parts of Australia, going to become controlled higher than this?

Give a nobody a uniform now in a number of instances you have a bully, a tyrant or someone of that nature.

Australia is to me by far ahead in the implementing of a Nanny state, the Governments Federal, state and local want to control everything.

There will be such a large bureaucracy we will not be able to afford it generally speaking public servants do not make money they just cost us money.

Up go the taxes again.

Politicians measure their contribution and their entitlement for large remuneration packages by the number of laws they pass.

The sheeple don't seem to realise that the more laws that are passed the more independence they themselves stand to lose.

However, where 90% (it must be above that by now) of Australians are urban and rely more and more on the State for simply everything, can there be any surprise that politicians believe that they are the masters and not the public they serve?

You get the same syndrome where residential housing tenants are concerned. Government regulations make the landlord responsible for everything, even damage. For instance, a licensed tradesman is required to change a lightbulb, or to check the smoke alarm ($95 to press a button with a stick). -BUT then tenants complain with surprise that rentals have inconveniently increased, "Hey, that is a 'slab' or a litre of Bundy less a month for me".

The answer, NathanJ, is that it is independence and self-reliance that assures and delivers choice. Less 'Gubbermint OUGHT to do this and that!' and more, 'Why should government be involving itself in private lives?'.

I can't see any evidence of a reduction in the demand for government to deliver less services. It is quite the reverse in fact and regarding public transport there are some who would have inspectors checking how far your knees are spread. That is, if the complainants would ever share a seat with you. Men should stand for women, apparently.

Maybe move to the country, but the whingers are there as well.

My, "I can't see any evidence of a reduction in the demand for government to deliver less services" should be, "I can't see any evidence of a reduction in the demand for government services".

yep the regressives failed Islamic immigration experiment has cost billions in added security. Added to this the violence often seen by the socialist left ensure the police force remains large.

onthebeach, on what do you base your claim that ”a licensed tradesman is required to change a lightbulb"?

Aidan,

Replace light bulbs?

Too hard, might require special tools/know-how, a single step ladder (even where supplied, the 'tenant might fall and hurt himself, he says'), should a tenant know how to turn off the main and should be even have to do that, the rationalisations are endless.

You don't have any rentals do you? However, if you are thinking of getting into it, here are a couple of tips:

- review decisions of the rental Tribunal first. Be seated at the time; and,

- have a chat with the young women who are PMs at your local REA. Ask what they might recommend to an owner when, ...(give a few examples).

Don't be too hard on the PMs, they see the Tribunals in action.

There has been a marked increase in the number of private security, look like coppers, types getting around of late. I believe in NSW we have one of the best trained police forces in the world to deal with security concerns, and may I add, one of the largest.
What does concern me is the level of training that these "private coppers", often carrying guns are subjected to, and if that training is adequate. We also seem to have a profusion of the likes of mall cops, bouncers, footy secrity, private inspectors of all kinds on buses, trains and in shops, around airports, in detention centers etc. I find it amusing that the 'Westfield's Men' can't handle kids on skateboards. little own deal with anything of a greater concern.

The government also has a responsibility to protect the civil liberties of citizens, whilst providing the necessary level of security that it demands, a level that is required to ensure we all continue to live in a free and democratic society. I believe the Abbott government was moving in the wrong direction in this regard, but am hopeful the Turnbull government will restore balance to the equation, and discontinue Abbott's emotiveness on the subject.

If world leaders ever come up with an agreement to lower atmosphere CO2 emissions... come up with limiting temperature increases to set two degree temperatures.
Having: China ending a long building expansion period; seven point two billion people on Earth, talking about nine billion plus people living on Earth. World economic recession and or depression, countries future high unemployment can be blamed on signed agreements to reduce CO2 emissions. It doesn't matter whether populations believe CO2 problems exist or not. Populations believe in democracy government's political process.

Several years ago compared to today's news stories, there wasn't that many beginnings of thirty and sixty minute prime time news, murder and terrorism important breaking news stories.

My question is: are citizens being set up to except increased economic hardship and increased: violence; domestic murders; terrorism; school shootings, leading to a U.S. American model society.

For many years, Australia politicians have encouraged multiculturalism. “Jerusalem is coming”. My assumed meaning “Jerusalem” is that sectarian violence has been introduced into populated areas with intentional violent “putting a bit of Chaos back into society”.

Sectarian violence is often blamed on middle Eastern sectarian cults. I don't hear of any carrying out plans in reducing religious extremism. My assumption would be, back in home countries, when sectarian leaders are asked to solve concerning issues, sectarian leaders blame other sectarian groups. Leaders have blame it on something else, other than blaming it on god. That's what religion (murdering each other, religious brotherhoods Cain and Able) is partly about.

I pose that Australia is being set up, repressing born in Australia women from having many children using expensive two wage income financed home ownership in favour of immigration. Late 1970s onwards home buyers generation influenced by most 1950s and 1960s parents owning homes. Allowing migrants from many countries to easily enter Australia coming from violent sectarian cultural countries.

Some U.N. world government in control of world trade, determining who gets what resources, has set out policies to control world population growth using biblical ideas of media lies and trickery.

The many: war documentaries; war movies; domestic military involvements, are desensitising citizens into excepting political excuses that leaders are solving problems and not being partly responsible for the problems.

Even though immigration filtering excludes violent adults entering Australia, Western U.S. Style education true and false answer testing education leads students that fail natural selection easier employment, young adults angry with ideas of revenge towards anything that is believed to be wrong, becoming suicidal.
Previous Australian student generations after realising that school education had few advantages, dropped out of school and pursued available employment opportunities. Now all children and teenagers are encouraged to study true and false examination answers information for little to no long term benefits. Which I believe school classroom education indoctrinates human behaviours into believing what people are told by media presentations, media presenters to be believed by school students induced self-gratification due to mentally stressful education's students needs for increased medicating self-esteem for getting teacher question correct; stressed students being thought of as smart by 29 remaining classroom students, hurried students having remembered simple memorised information many times before. As getting information correct and feeling smart feels feel good correct, information is felt as true.

The only benefit for poor thinking skills, poorly educated teenagers, educated to keep themselves dumb, continued education, is that teenagers may learn words with complex meanings, yet use words in typed readings that are poorly thought out shallow assumptions, based around media news.
Teenagers who feel intelligent, feel as though their educational complex wording understanding was valuable, ignoring anything not easily understood and or believed as true information as bull-dun.

Teenagers and young adults are easily lead into supporting cultural and religious beliefs, based on how they feel about surrounding environments: medicating drug use; gun totting hero worship endorphins stimulation; having a cause, a religion, a purpose, an alternative life style, getting away from other repressive society environments.

President O'bama's “no child left behind” education policy, using the same teachers forcing bad education curriculum studying, is going to lead to more future school classroom shootings.

To say that a ratio of one child in a classroom has ADHD as suggested on ABC 7.30 report December 11, 2015. I say every educated person having attended schooling hurried education and having forced to provide work practices productivities, are all undiagnosed ADHD sufferers.

Schooling's hurrying from each time tasked curriculum subject to another subject, starting in early primary schooling, before children have the chance to understand how to do each task with a high degree of expertise, is sabotaging early childhood learning experiences. Forcing children to spell words before allowing children to spend many hours of reading, many hours of reading that should allow latter spelling tasks easier to perform.

As I repeat often, schooling education is not about increasing student employment capabilities. School student learning is about ensuring natural selection truck drive skills employment and teaching students to keep themselves dumb, believing media transparency democracies stories and economic capitalist propaganda.

Fool me once can't fool me twice. Education is fool me all the time. Minimum thirteen years of conditioned learning. Mental depression; suicide; drug addictions; alcoholism; manipulation. All about a self-selected group of leaders can control society with endangering themselves and the system of control.

Share market declines seventy years after WW2 post generation retirement savings wealth are at maximum value. Reducing continued wealth creation now seems the right time to use climate change agreements as an unforeseeable event excuse.
