Rhian, thought you might find the most recent BBC 4 radio's More or Less Behind the Stats episode which is a 'Greece Special' of interest:

It's not much fun being in power - Tsipras has buckled, his ministers are resigning, his MPs are revolting - all because he has had to accept the inevitable. And now people are rioting in the streets, Syriza (Gramscians) versus Syriza (Realists).

One ghastly outcome of all of this may be a take-over by the army. What impact might that have, on top of everything else, on the young professionals ? Understandably, they will try to migrate to where there are jobs, including to Australia.

And if the army takes over, can Greece stay in the EU ?

A Greek tragedy, with the country brought down by hubris: just a few days ago, the new finance minister was writing of 'triumphalism'. Can Greece ever recover ? Perhaps not in my lifetime :(

Agreed, truly tragic, and I can see many possible outcomes, none of them good. The EU’s credibility has rightly taken a battering in this process. If it accepts a military dictatorship, it will fall to zero.

So, is this the new paradox? The only form of government capable of delivering the reforms and stability Greece would need to stay in the EZ, is the only form of government the EU could not accept.

I still don’t know where to from here, but increasingly I suspect the least bad outcome is a planned and orderly Grexit sometime in the next couple of years (which we would certainly not have had if yesterday’s vote had gone the other way)

//Ahem....the one country which has "never' paid off its debts is Germany.//

Actually, they have finished paying reparations. A Lannister always pays his debts.

But don't forget the words of House Baratheon: Ours is the Fury!

Or the words of House Stark: Winter is Coming.
