Sepp Blatter and FIFA
It appears that whole organisation is in dire need of reform, but is there any hope of this being achieved? I wonder if the organisation has passed its use by date, and will gradually crumble into irrelevance, or is it possible that a new leader could sort it all out?
I would be interested to read the views of those on this forum on this topic.

One meaning of the word, sport, is fun. Why can't people who enjoy the game play it and those who enjoy watching the game watch it without any money being involved? I don't think we need professional sports or international competition. For what I can see international competition increases nationalism and commercialism. What difference does a gold medal make? Just play for fun, and don't make a business of it.

Hi there WARMAIR...

Lets hope so, it would appear world soccer is in dire need of having the brush put through the entire administration ! Too much money is the problem, both for players and their 'hanger's on' ? I've just heard the FBI have gathered additional evidence involving more individuals allegedly involved in these corrupt practices, including the illustrious Mr Sepp BLATTER himself ?

Still I wouldn't hold my breath in the expectation of either coercing, or prevailing upon the good Mr BLATTER, and any of his wealthy European soccer cohorts, into the Dock of a United States Criminal Court ? Money, influence and power somehow manages to invalidate the normal machinations of justice, that ordinarily apply to the likes of you and me, WARMAIR ? An example of that assertion, one needs to look no further than the inimitable Mr Lance ARMSTRONG, a gentleman who has a prediliction for riding a bicycle ?

When I was a kid, everyone believed that sport was 'character building'. I never saw it that way, becuse I hated sport.

Nowadays, I get it. The noun 'character' was never qualified as required by people interested in the English language; we can have good character or bad character, just like good quality or poor quality. Neither character nor quality on their own mean anything.

With FIFA, we see the facts about the character imbued by sport these days: POOR CHARACTER. Every weekend we see on TV, in all sports, examples of poor character from participants-unwarranted aggression; win at all costs; doping; cheating; abuse. You name it, it's there.

I see that the United Nations Humans Rights has just appointed Saudi Arabia for their Religous Freedom Conference. Make sure you leave your bikinis at home and wear your headdress ladies. Seriously is the UN and FIFA one and the same.

G'day RUNNER, if that's true I'm astounded ! Saudi Arabia should the last country on earth to hold such a conference ! They'd be better suited to holding an Expo. 'World's Best Practices for State Appointed Executioners', surely !
