SM,

Yes, we're all really impressed with Mr Abbott's
truthfullness, "No Surprises," accountability,
transparency, government. He's the pinnacle of
what the Liberal Party currently stands for - and
impresses all of the voters (check the polls,
and the recent marches in March). Look at the wonderful
honesty as displayed by Mr Sinodinos (no corruption
there) et al, the objectivity of the Speaker of the
House ("Off With Their Heads!), Tweedledum and Tweedledee -
Joe Hockey and Christopher Pyne, and the entire frontbench
made up of cards all desperately trying to keep their jobs
"We're painting the Roses Red, We're painting the Roses
Red."

Wonderland's a great place to live - for some.
Too bad the real world's a bit different.

SM,

You appear to miss the point in ""Companion to the order of Australia"...

The key word being "Australia".

Abbott came up with this all by himself - no consultation - for a stunt.

He's made a top-class fool of himself in the process...(which, is not surprising)..and as far as I'm concerned he can continue to have brain farts which expose his inanity until the cows come home.

Merely shows him up for the vacuous opportunistic, slogan-speaking character that he is.

Poirot,

Is Australia really the key word.

Then you should have no trouble with the awards which are "Knight and Dame of the Order of Australia". These awards are decided by Australians and bestowed by Australians.

Or will you simply decide that something else is key now that your argument has been blown away?

SM,

Round we go...what have knights and dames got to do with 21st century Australia?

Especially in the case of autonomous reprise on behalf of a try-hard PM - who has little to offer except a cloak of double-talk, slogans and deception.

It was a dud decision...stay tuned for many many more!

P,

What does "Companion to the order of Australia", have to do with 21st century Australia? the answer is: no more nor less than Knights or dames.

Perhaps you would simply prefer that an outstanding citizen is awarded the title of "mate" with handshake, a slap on the back and a barbie at state house?

Actually that sounds pretty good to me SM.

"Mate of the order of Australia"
"Old Mate of the Order of Australia"

'Mate' would replace 'Sir' in conversational language, "G'day Mate" would literally translate to "Good day Sir".

Yeah, it just might work.
