Hi there BELLY...

A great topic for sure my friend. I'm wondering if there's far too much money in sport today ? Even the Olympic Games themselves, are awash with money ? Apparently those at the very pinnacle of the Olympic Administration, are themselvese, under considerable pressure, just to correctly, and diplomatically select a suitable and appropriate venue every four years.

Seemingly each country that seeks to host the games, has to raise an enormous amount of capital, just to entertain and curry favour with Olympic selectors. And this is by all accounts both a legitimate and normal practice ? To my simple mind it's, subornation, (well, almost) ?

In my opinion, should the Olympics again regain it's amateur status, it might be a very positive, first step, in ridding some sports of the deleterious effects of 'filthy' lucre, and all the nasty things that accompany it ?

In crime, first follow the money ?

It seems clear the thread holds little interest for most.
Yet it lives for me.
Politicians, and indeed those who held the inquiry, seem to have gone off early.
Yes some forms of doping, maybe not illegal, have taken place.
Yet surely, for most, the claim organized crime is able to twist arms and see betting has its required out come is far worse?

I think I took a bait here.
Yes we have organized crime in sport.
Yes the results and some things, who scores first try, are fixed.
And yes Newcastle Knights and other teams, had players hand in hand, OPENLY, with a brothel owner/criminal gambler, a few years ago.
But drugs?
Seems it is not as bad as first thought, one team named because of the activity's of one player, before he came to play for them!
Those making the charges look dismal, put up or shut up.
