Alan Austin (one of those leading the lynch mob against Alan Jones) quoted: "effectiveness is defined as impacting the target company or organisation. Success is getting the organisation to take the action the protesters' demand." According to the latest ratings the effectiveness was ephemeral, and the success non existent.

According to Fairfax: "Despite the fallout from his comment that the prime minister's father "died of shame", Alan Jones came out on top, at least in terms of ratings which increased." This was entirely predictable, as a similar crusade against Kyle Sandilands achieved the same result.

Now Alan Jones and 2GB have about 1/6th of the radio listeners in Sydney, and predominately the wealthier bigger spending segment of the market. The question for marketers is whether you want these listeners to buy your products, or your competitors'.

How ironic. It looks as though the campaign will eventually earn him more money.
