Rehctub, you miss the point. Drinking milk prices are largely
subsidising manufacturing milk prices. But the problem remains,
our high $, high costs in Australia, make it unprofitable to
produce milk for 14c. That has nothing to do with Coles or Woolies.

The best thing that farmers can do is produce less, then prices
will go up.

Farmers are mugs as they have borrowed 59 billion at say 10%,
to earn a return of 3%. The more they borrow, the more they lose.

Yabby I agree that farmers are mugs, evidence bing in that the average age for farmers is about 57.

So what do we do without them?

And, are we simply going to sit back and watch as they die a slow death.

What then!

Well Rehctub, hopefully farmers will then produce less, as the young
ones arn't going to work like the last generation did. Eventually
I think that the super funds and overseas investors will buy alot
of the land. The big boys, like the Chinese etc, have their own
markets and don't need city Australia to rip them off with high
costs. Lots of land here in WA is already being sold off as hobby
farms etc. They don't actually produce anything, but add to the
scenery. Most of our dairy farmers have gone and they are now
trucking in milk from SA
