The arts are created by the people, going back thousands of years. Now the government is developing a "National Cultural Policy". It is not the government's business to take over the arts from the people. Their policy need not govern us. The government is seeking to take over our arts. Will they tell us what arts we are allowed to produce, or only those for which we may receive government subventions?

Sorry, welcome by the way, but I find nothing of substance in your views.
EGW was much loved for funding the arts, still is.
I have zero doubt ANY party EVER will try to control what art is,or who is an artist.

To ensure Art continues Art must be made self-funding.

Dear Clem Gorman,

I wasn't aware that the government was "taking over,"
the Arts. That's not what they had in mind with their
National Cultrual Policy.

From my understanding - the Government produced
a Draft of a Discussion Paper asking - organisations,
community groups and ordinary Australians for their
input into what they called their "National Cultural Policy."

After the Draft's release - organisations, community groups,
and thousands of Australians from all around the country
and from many different backgrounds contributed valuable
suggestions and feedback. Did you?

All seemed to agree that such a policy was a good idea (the
first such policy in 20 years) because through the National
Cultural Policy the government will support the Arts and
strengthen its contribution to a "dynamic and diverse
Australia." The policy will set a framework for the
government to support the Arts culture and creativity for the
next 10 years and provide them with a strategic direction
for current and future investment.

Most people would find that - a sensible and necessary thing to
have done.

National Culture Policy is a big term. Does it refer to australian culture only or does it include mindless cultures being forced upon us ?
