Belly,
You are right on this, some subjects just don't get a run at all.

I recall the debate when the 'pill' was to be introduced. It would eliminate abortions it was claimed. Well it has not. Now we have' the morning after' pill.

So where is the need for abortion? There seems to be little need except for medical reasons where contiued pregnancy may endanger the mothers life.

So we turn a blind eye to abortion and it is not the only issue.

I find FGM, on little girls, abhorrent yet no one seems interested.

All states made it illegal in 1994, which made the polys feel good, and education was introduced. Millions spent on this education and yet FGM, according to reports, is increasing. Even those that had FGM done to them, as girls, are now having their own little girls done.

The evidence is available, about FGM, from hospitals and yet not one person has been prosecuted in relation to it. I suggest it has only been from skilled medical practice that a death has not been recorded. Alternately, deaths may be attributed to another cause, such as infection.

Yes, Belly, we do turn a blind eye to abortion and other matters. The polys all do not want to know about it.

Banjo think I know why that dreadful crime against young women is not one we can debate here.
Political Correctness, unpleasant subject, may involve some belief and some groups.
So in an effort to not be incorrect, not openly confront a thing so dreadful we do not talk of it.
A painful thing, a crime, inflicted some times at the insistence of mothers, on a child.
Banjo our comfort zone is not forever, not a guaranteed forever safe zone.
In just a second the west could find others ruling us.
And we could feel the pain we so easily ignore that half the worlds population do.

Belly,
The reason polys do not like to discuss abortion or FGM is not because of political correctness. It is simply because they fear losing votes, the weak bastards. They know that FGM is against the law but take no action to enforce the law.

Cut down a tree or build a kids cubby house in the backyard without permission and see what happens. They regularly prosecute people for cockfighting, but you see those numbers are small and it does not effect the vote much.

They are scared of voter backlash. As a NSW Health Minister told me a couple of years ago, "there are cultural considerations" so they allow young girls to endure pain and suffer for the rest of their lives because the culture is more important. What bulldust.

Action on abortions, especially late term, is similar. The polys know what is reasonable here but fail to act.

Like the drover said, "the more I see of people, the more I like me dog"

Belly,
If polys had any principle at all they would act.

In NSW there is little chance that they would lose much at the next election, so now is the time to act on FGM, for example.

But they won't. Same as Labor did nothing when in power.

See why I have little respect for both major parties.

Banjo I actually agree, including your view on my party's actions here.
I feel, many do, Labor is often too gutless to act on such matters.
See PC and not many votes says stay away, that mocks my party's reason to exist Social justice.
But I was thinking of OLO any discussion like my thread your shared be me views here are ignored, the Ostrich Syndrome, too unpleasant to talk about its not us so why worry.
I am unsure how this will ever be resolved but in time our inability to talk about some issues needs questioning, do we care?

Thanks Banjo, thanks too one under God.
As we gather here in the burial place of lost threads let us remember these things.
Up above in the place those more upwardly mobile and better mannered than us live, the articles section,a similar thread lives.
Headline story's of post birth killing of children.
I say sorry, that these kids die, but let it be said few seem to care.
We put this unpopular thing to bed.
Sure and certain in the belief it will continue.
And, for me at least, that the practice Banjo deplores as I do,will continue to be practiced in our country illegal? yes but practiced still.
We must not intrude on subject that question the God PC.
Rude of me but this morning English news is full of a story about a Witch craft murder and the important news it is not unusual, in ENGLAND?
PC I fear for a humanity unable to talk about some things, because we may come to under stand true evil.
