I don't even live in Qld but have been involved in local government in NSW and the questions I would be asking is not about the release of water from the dam,

I would like to know exactly who approved the subdivision of housing land, with approval for building, on land below the 1974 flood levels.

I have been told by a now retired Brisbane builder that about 50% of the homes flooded were built since 1974.

Should not those involved be brought to book?

Something stinks around Brisbane.

Thanks for that StG.

When was it that the large volumes started coming down the river? It was openly discussed around here, during the flood, that it did not start until the Monday, after the weekend.

Of course that doesn't make it true, but those around your way do know.

I believe it was Saturday the 8th when they opened the five gates.

No, it was the Saturday the 8th which caused Brisbane river to rise then Toowoomba got hit on the Monday which tipped it over the edge ... so to speak.

Thanks for that StG, it is that close up information we needed.

I wonder why they have not followed that line of investigation at the enquiry. This tells what they were actually doing, rather than that they said the had done, as they remember it.

Lets hope they have permanent surveillance cameras on that spillway. Then there can never be an argument like this again.
