In the 3rd world food security is of far more importance than in the OECD. The ban on the live trade to Indonesia that put many in Indonesia out of work, and took meat out of the diet of the poorest, was that:
1- Australia could not be relied on,
2- Australia was quite happy to insult and humiliate Indonesia on the public stage.

The predictable result is that Indonesia is now looking to develop other more reliable supplies, and that co operation with Indonesia on other issues such as asylum seekers cannot be expected.

some people found it ok that these very people granted themselves a massive pay increase. I can't think of anything more disheartening. Why on earth didn't the other lots reject this pay rise ? Same mould, different colour perhaps ? It put a big dent in my consideration for them.
