Hamid Kazai has stated outright that the only possible partner for negotiations about the ongoing war in Afghanistan (the one we are in) is our supposed Ally, Pakistan (http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/karzai-criticizes-pakistan-for-supporting-terrorists/2011/10/03/gIQAWABWIL_story.html). This is an explicit acceptance that Pakistan is waging war on their supposed allies (if they are not capable of deciding the strategy of the Taliban, how could they be a partner for negotiation?). http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/defence/stephen-smith-welcomes-afghan-stance-on-pakistan-taliban-ties/story-e6frg8yo-1226159654154

This makes today's announcement that Afghanistan has signed a defence pact with India (http://www.pakistantoday.com.pk/2011/10/pakistan-more-isolated-after-india-afghan-pact/) even more interesting. Pakistan has been strengthening its ties with China. The potential for the other Asian Superpower to have a base in the Indian Ocean (which now belongs to India thanks to unprecedented defence spending on its navy) is going to be as intolerable to India as a Russian base in the Indian Ocean was to the USA in the 80's.

Time to wake up boys and girls, this little bushfire war is about to gain the potential to get as real as these things get. Thanks to recent changes, we can now draft twice as many young Australian's for frontline service (ain't that grand). What we have coming is a full on power struggle between at least 3 Nuclear armed nations (India, China & Pakistan - probably also the USA & NATO) in our region, which, based upon history, is likely to get real nasty real quick. The reality is secondary, it is how our hysterical friends in Islamabad (who do like to make threats and cause terror attacks) view it http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-10-04/karzai-to-hold-afghanistan-india-talks-that-may-increase-pakistan-tensions.html

Hmmmm, wonder if that is why we are rebuilding our light battalions and increasing the size of our regular army?

Pakistan is not exactly helping Afganistan now are they. Sounds like a good move to me. I don't see what pakistan has got to offer china.
Pakistan is a terrorist nation, their use is running out.

Calm down, Custard.

And when the red mists have cleared, explain this to me if you will.

>>What we have coming is a full on power struggle between at least 3 Nuclear armed nations (India, China & Pakistan - probably also the USA & NATO) in our region, which, based upon history, is likely to get real nasty real quick.<<

Based on what history?

I would have thought that based on the last fifty years or so, we can all rest easy in our beds.

Except for Arjay. He'll see Karzai as the vanguard of the New World Order, and we'll not hear the last of it.

Relations between Karzai and Pakistan are deteriorating at an incredible rate. Relations between India and Pakistan are also deteriorating. In each war between India and Pakistan to date, there has been next to no warning or lead up, that is the reality of the subcontinent and the wars since the second world war.

Well it is quite refreshing to see that some don't think Tony Abbott or Israel is our enemy for a change. Pakistan has shown itself to be totally untrustworthy. Fancy not knowing that Osama was living right under their noses. Complex world. Thank God that He has not been caught by surprise.

What we are seeing is the aligning of powers created by the imperialist agenda of the Western banking military industrial complex.Hamid Kazai was just another US puppet like Saddham who is now not so compliant.

For the Afghanistan elites it is probably the lesser of two evils. The Western corruption is more to their liking than the Chinese who may well carry out genocide on a massive scale to take control of Afghan resources and energy.

Pakistan has aligned itself with China for good reasons. The US,Israel and NATO want to neutralise their nuke capacity.

The USA will be forced to retreat to its' borders because it is stone motherless broke.Who will protect our interests alone in the Pacific?Last time the front was at Qld.They were going to let the Japs take half the country.

Why would China bother with population that believes in democracy and freedom of thinking when it is so small? China is big enough to re-write history.Lennin murdered 40 million, 20 million would be breeze.

It is the criminal banskter elites who have engineered this debacle and now it is even out of their control.

Pakistan's stance toward Bin Laden has proven once and for all what kind of country they REALLY are.
They are planning to charge for TREASON the guy who tipped off the CIA to where Bin Laden was hiding!
Dobbing a jihadi hiding illegally amongst us anywhere else in the world would get you a medal by that very government (let alone have them personally take Bin Laden out themselves)- but Pakistani regards it as treasonous!

We've ignored every blatant act of hostility, corruption, and worrisome attitudes of that awful country before, but hopefully NOW we can finally cut ourselves loose and stop supporting people that are clearly against us.
