http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/content/2011/s3257956.htm Go to the bottom of the article and click ABC iview to see the program.
It is the most confronting doco I've ever seen.Perhaps we need to whiten their skin for us to be outraged and take notice. Posted by Arjay, Thursday, 7 July 2011 11:38:32 AM

Arjay you highlight a dreadful act of mass murder.
But as you manage to do in every post mix in some real rubbish. I accept you have a point what happened under the eyes of a world not even paying lip service to human values is unforgivable. But tagging your hobby horse on to a real issue leaves me wondering are you using this mass murder to highlight your some what unattractive and questionable theory's? Belly Sri Lanka is in enormous debt due to war and corruption.Guess who is one of the leading bankers hold them in debt? JP Morgan. These parasites will loan them money created from nothing and then have shares in the arms manufacturers who sell them the weapons.

I wonder - if those cattle somehow managed to escape, board a boat and sail to Australia - would we send them back?
We sent back a lot of Tamils - probably to a similar fate. Posted by wobbles, Thursday, 7 July 2011 1:20:54 PM

Dear Arjay,
I watched the 4 Corners program - it was horrific. I'm not sure what our government and other world leaders are doing about atrocities such as those. Surely these issues can be raised on international forums - including The Hague - and those guilty be held to account for war crimes - which is what these acts are. Yes Lexi.No condemation from our leaders.Libya needed saving from Qaddafi but the Tamils can be exterminated.Perhaps they needed to find oil to be saved.

But of course there is always at least two sides to any story:
“Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr. Palitha Kohona said the commentator John Snow and the UK-based Channel 4 (Ch-4), which made the video – Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields - depending heavily on information from the LTTE’s propaganda arm, TamilNet, had deliberately produced the video to influence international public opinion and arouse sympathy towards the LTTE and its cause.” http://www.sundayobserver.lk/2011/07/03/fea01.asp Posted by SPQR, Thursday, 7 July 2011 10:31:52 PM

Arjay,
It just so happens I think your cause has some Merritt & who isn't saddened to see such reports. However you do it less justice by inferring the 4 corners report & dreadful footage to our Australian Animals isn't just as appalling . I guess to put it in prospective as you insist for some reason to drawing a caparison on these two equally awful reports in one: Is Australians responsibility & duty. The other is sadly in another country that we do give aid to. As a matter of fact Rudd has been tripping around the globe doubling the foreign aid $ just about everywhere he stops. But of course your right to as Lexi said raise it on international forums & I for one would be happy to support that. As usual great comments Lexi Posted by Kerryanne, Thursday, 7 July 2011 11:21:52 PM

Sorry Kerryanne,I cannot equate the murder rape and torture of 40,000 human beings with that of cattle going to the slaughter.
What happened in Sri Lanka is infinetly worse and we are ignoring it. Posted by Arjay, Friday, 8 July 2011 10:24:43 AM

Arjay,
I dont condone ""either one "" but clearly you condone what we saw on 4 corners happening to Australian Animals and that is sad. I do not see one has anything to do with each other- Other than the fact both are grossly wrong. Its just a peculiar argument especially if your sincere about wanting to highlight highlight the pilot of the Sri Lanka people. As I said Lexis idea is a good one and its to your credit you care enough to open this thread- but remember in these days compassion is hard to find in this world. Your going to need those people who showed compassion on the other 4 corners doc. My advise is if you want to represent Sri Lanka people you dont go out of your way to upset the millions of Australian people who have shown they have compassion. Some of us have enough for both - but it would appear your not of of them. The tone of your thread will lose you people that the Sri Lanka people need. No matter HOW passionate you are about a topic - think"" how you can get real support for those people. Its not by insulting the hundreds of thousands of people in Australia who marched the streets in protest of Animal Cruelty either. THINK of the poor Sri Lanka people ""only ""& dont go comparing it to our aboriginal problems homeless people problems elderly people problems or dog cats-p-- stick to the topic of the people . I heard it was un-watchable Arjay.
Sounds like we should consider the needs of refugees arriving from that country. Posted by thinker 2, Friday, 8 July 2011 8:33:18 PM

Thinker 2 ,If you can stomach women and children begging for their lives, and Sri Lankin Soldiers filming on mobile phones, with a gun in one had then executing prisoners and laughing about it,or people being herded onto a sand spit and bombed, or make shift hospitals bombed and shot up,then it is watchable.

Ajay, If you lobby for it I dont think you could do better than using GetUp to send some of ours- The Government are looking to pull out from a few places anyway Lobby for humanitarian troops & its good to see people care. We are very lucky to live where we do Eternal vigilance - lets we forget. So if you and everyone vote on Getup - Might be good results * Thank you for caring! Sri Lankan killing of Tamil Tigers, women and children killed. Four Corners footage. Ban Dilmah Tea Boycott Dilmah Tea in protest of the horrific killing of women and children in Sri Lanka. The breach of international human rights is horrific. Raping of women, torture and execution. Let Dilmah tea owners know that the Sri Lanka government is to be held accountable. by Dr Gary Martin in Human Rights | 8 comments Posted by Kerryanne, Saturday, 9 July 2011 4:46:54 PM

Just one more suggestion - why not ask Wellards to take a run over there and we will go & get some of the women and children & elderly. If you knew me you wouldnt bother to ask if I am serious. Come on! What are the Government going to do-- nothing- After seeing THAT on 4 corners every single Aussie would scream to keep them here until it was safe to go home All we need is a big ship Green Peace etc & some ground contact. I should think a free range journo would be able to get an operation like that up and running. The trouble with us half the time is we wait for consent to do the right thing-- Yep I do think they should go into a camp- or call it what you like for health risks but we can still help a awful lot. I much prefer that than see these well dressed men coming here leaving their wives & kids behind. I hate that Posted by Kerryanne, Saturday, 9 July 2011 4:55:32 PM

Kerryane unfortunately I no longer trust 'Get Up'since George Soros funds them and I don't believe in the Carbon tax or the theory of AGW.
If NATO can pretend to save the Libyans for oil, then they can do likewise for the Tamils.Perhaps we could hide some oil in Sri Lanka. The Corporate media only print what is in their interests. The ABC do some good docos but on the issue of CO2,they are totally biased. The solution is to take the evidence to an international criminal court and send the UN back with real military force to make sure the Tamil people are safe. Now Kevin Rudd has strong ties to the UN.Put the pressure on him.NATO has the power to bomb the crap out of Libya to assume control of their oil, perhaps they can spare a few rounds for the hapless Tamils. Ar jay,
no reason to trust GetUp either trust me- funny clicky mob but this is within their interest *scope. Forget the UN my advise. wouldnt get past the first post *Now Kevin Rudd has strong ties to the UN.* your call I'd rather go with GetUp. Took the the Saddam oil for food scam to Rudd over AWB & live exports.Nearly got my backside shot off for zac. & Rudd headed for the hills when presented with evidence as shadow Minster for foreign affairs & trade. Gutless wonder imop. Set strippers outside AWB inquiry with live Live Exports banners. Should have read Rudd's a gutless wonder! Nope we would be better going anywhere other than Rudd even Getup. Looks like GetUp might run with it anyway- do u think? um, lets think... Posted by Kerryanne, Saturday, 9 July 2011 10:38:13 PM

The UN peace keepers were told to leave,as the Tamil people begged them to stay, knowing full well what the Sri Lankan Govt had in store for them.We see in this doco graphic evidence of torture, rape and murder beyond the imagination of even the least civilised of Western decadence.
My observation is this.We have total outrage and over reaction to the cattle killed in Indonesia, yet ignore the plight of humans like the Tamils. There is this over riding view within the environmental movement that humans are a blight on the planet and nature devoid of human kind is the more noble form of existance.
So as the carbon dioxide threat wanes, the new threat of too many humans rises to the surface as echoed by the likes of Dick Smith. We over the decades we have become used to seeing black and brown skinned people die of disease and malnutrition, thus seeing this as some sort of basic genetic flaw.
The notion of the superior white skinned people is deeply ingrained and a lie.My view is that the Western Banking system of debt money creation is the source of much of this poverty and depravity on this planet. We through the IMF and World Bank have enslaved poor countries by insisting that our technology be only purchased by our debt money creation system. They have also supported corrupt regiemes, which have further intrenched debt slavery.
To ignore the plight of the Tamil people, may well see in the future our Govts do the same to us.Has Julia Gillard heeded our wishes for her not to impose a carbon tax? As Ron Paul says, the people need a constitution to protect them from their Govts.Ours is sadly lacking and the US Constitution has been dismantled.
