Dear Steven,

The following website may be of interest:

http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/special-features/spray-link-to-birth-defect/story-e6frg191-1225835637948

The figures I gave you in my earlier post were accurate and
worrying.

Lexi

The figures from your latest post do look compelling.

Obviously we need to take atrazine off the market at least for now.

I assume the NSW Health Dept. is aware of this?

Dear Steven,

Atrazine is under investigation by the NSW Health Dept. The NSW Greens have called for a ban on the herbicide because of its potential links to birth defects. However the Australian Pesticides and Vet. Medicines Authority has concluded that atrazine doesn't -
"pose a risk to human health and the environment and that the withdrawal of this chemical from the market would have significant consequences to food security and our environment... that atrazine is integral in defending summer crops..."

What I find interesting is that the ABC piece left out all the background which has emerged here. That puts the statistics in a completely different light.

Thank you all for filling in the missing details.

Dear Steven,

Thank You for raising this issue and giving us this thread. I wouldn't have known anything about this subject if it weren't for your thread. However, I don't know what the end results are going to be after the investigations are completed. I fear that there will be a great deal of pressure not to proceed with having the herbizide banned by vested interests. Hopefully this thing won't get swept under the rug.

Everybody seems to agree that the case warrants further investigation. The only question really seems to be who's going to fund such a study. Any ideas, Steven?
