Kennet's dream agenda for O'Farrell is far from top drawer

Jeff Kennett has weighed in on NSW politics with a recommendation to Barry O'Farrell that he 'sack his mandarins' -the heads of all major state government departments. This with no stated justification or purpose, not the heads of some, or poorly performing departments, but just the slash and burn mentality of extremist conservative government.

Tony Abbott likewise, among the speakers at Barry O'Farrell's campaign launch railed against what he called "Stalinist public sector Unions."

However, if Barry O'Farrell walks into power as he is so confident that he will, and acts upon Kennett's '100 flowers' recommendation for across the board purges, the Liberal Party will be carrying out an agenda bordering on Maoist!

But in all seriousness, Kennett has said that any candidate in O'Farrell's position, rubbing hands with glee in anticipation of an easy victory, should have a wish list of extremist hard right legislation predrafted, ready and waiting in the bottom drawer, to be rushed through state parliament as soon as he assumes office.

Handle,

Heads of departments are political appointees whose purpose is to ensure that the vision of the minister is implemented. The present incumbents all have strong ties to the Labor party, and have remained in their positions in spite of the incompetence of many because of their loyalties.

Others while reasonably capable are still appointed because of their shared agenda. If these heads of department remain, the direction of the department could differ from the vision of the new minister.

While I would consider that those capable and willing to follow the new agenda could remain, those that cannot adapt have no place in the new administration.

Handle we the ALP in NSW gave up any right to judge about 8 years ago.
We in self interest politicians not party, betrayed our own roots sold our workforce to shonky contractors who under paid even killed workers.
It is after 22 years working for state government, and a lot as union official, my view he at least is starting at the right end.
I can not agree with Shadow Minister, while some heads may be Labor people, most are just useless.
IF we from left of conservatives, surely most are given conservative lurch to the right, want less privatization it is in our interests to sack almost every head of every single division state wide RTA can pick its game up in a week with local managers mostly sidelined, must say however one I saw in action should be put in charge of the whole shebang.

>>Be careful of Jeff Kennet he makes Joe look like a beginner.

What he did do was to show the holes in our democratic system.

You see, to get the job done, one must tread on some toes, especially of the ones who contribute the least and take out the most.

Unfortunately, they to get to vote and usually vote for the one who will cause them the least amount of grief, hence, he was voted out.

Another reason why compulsory voting is wrong.
