Egtptian President Mubarak has shut down the major social net working sites in Egypt as an attempt to quell the riots that threaten his power. As Johnny Punish says,Obama is in a dilemma here, does he back the freedom of speech of the Egyptian people or back Mubarak the dictator whom they have supported?

About 10 hours before you posted this Obama said he did not agree with the lock down.
I think the true [feeble but true] reason it was shut down was to stop information about events under way getting out.

People....people.. wake up.

EGYPT and TUNISIA and YEMEN.. loooook *closely*

a) We are sick of poverty and no jobs. (This is the voice of the Socialists/Communists)

b) Remove Mubarak! This is the voice of the Muslim Brotherhood.

'b' will slaughter 'a' as soon as they have power.

It happened in Iran and it will happen in Egypt if it get's that far.

Note the outbreak in SUEZ (canal) and Yemen "Straits/oil"

Put both of those under extremist control and you have just taken over the world.

Belly ,what Obama says and does as we all know, are two different things. We were supposed to be out of Iraq last year.It won't happen.Mubarak is worth $40 billion, how does a public official make that sort of money in such a poor country?

AIR,Mubarak like Ben Ali are both US despotic puppets. The real danger is the US/Israel will set up another of their puppets and con the poor people again.Could you survive on $6 a day in Egypt? The system of Western debt slavery has Egypt in this cycle of poverty.I hope they get a true leader of the people but with US/Israel interference, it may well be nigh impossible.

Israel has all the nukes in the Middle East so why is Egypt,Iran and Tunisia a threat? You over estimate the power of these countries.Raise their living standards and the people will be content.

The UK Telegraph has revealed that the USA for some time have been planning the over throw of Mubarak and slip in another of their own puppets.Mubarak's excesses probably got too embarrassing,so they'll put an a more palitable despot for now.

Well said, that is it in a nutshell. People are just people, the plebs have no control of government policy. The sins of the government are visited on the people, not the other way round.

Arjay the Western press has sold the whole Middle East to us as hand chopping zealots. Led by the spin of the American controlled press the dehumanising of the Middle Eastern population is an age old forerunner to the justification of brutality as a means to an end. I said on another post that Russia will be the dark horse in the Middle East. But Murbarak will go and as you say the contenders have been chosen. Let the corruption begin, again.

AGiR your rather flamboyant style of posting, that insistence that others see it your way will not change reality.
I, as you know, am aware of dangers from radical Islam.
You rush to judgment here however.
Lack of freedom, choice and a leader they want is being shown.
Can it be that you think suppression of this movement is the only way American interests can be served.
It may well be the out come of these problems will not be good for the west.
But at least in part the birth came about because Egypt was not acting in the best interests of its people.

"Thumbs up" if you're not surprised that Arjay links Obama to it all. Global politics sometimes = backing the lesser of two evils. If one evil is semi-compliant as opposed to the other that wants to cut your head off, you back the one that's enjoys a certain lifestyle.

Yeah, yeah, I know. New World Order and Illuminati and all that. We're all puppets, Arjay. Most of us just don't know it. You're a slave to the dollar, shiny stuff, and habits, just like the rest of us.

Buy a tent and head to the bush if it concerns you that much.

StG ,you and others had better grasp the nettle of reality, since we have the same scenario which gave us WW2,only this time they are willing to use the nukes to grasp more money and power.Nobody will win.Has this reality permeated your cranium?

Arjay America could not win a raffle in your eyes.
But thankfully, your views are extreme and not shared by many.
Life in Egypt has not been good.
Is freedom and democracy not for every one.

Open your eyes Belly. We don't have true freedom and democracy here.We have countyry run by corporate interests. Are you saying the Egyptians
are not worthy of freedom and democracy ,or are you saying 58% of oil exists in Muslim lands and that is not in our interests?

StG:>> We're all puppets, <<

StG, Corporations and the handful that direct them control all, except the weather. This is the line of events that lead me to believe all has been fully orchestrated.

Technology explodes in the 1960's and skilled labour for the first time becomes expendable. Factory floors that employed hundreds now employees a hundred.

The unions seeing their power base eroding begin to submit exorbitant claims for the remaining work force. Justifying their claims against the expanding productivity that technology has brought.

From the late 60's onward the union movement in all first world nations were involved in disputes with management, and the only thing stopping management from closing down and moving to cheaper climes was the Import duty that ALL nations had in place to protect their domestic economy.

During this global worker unrest in 1973 the UN the World Bank and the IMF proposed the Lima Declaration, the first legally binding agreement that took away the sovereignty of a nation to tax incoming goods.

Corporation gain our loss and subjugation.

StG the results of manufacturing going overseas are now fully evident. They did not do it in a hurry, the plan was a 50 year projection that would see the First World having to support itself with service industries and tourism if you don't have anything to dig up and send to the East.

Perhaps one in a hundred Aussies knows that our government signed away our sovereignty with the full approval of the opposition. But they all feel the outcome. Australians have fewer saving and owe more in credit than any time in our history. In real terms of ownership and debt we are the poorest Aussies in modern history.

Late last year free trade and the dropping of tariffs hit a new low in Australia. Regardless of our unique isolation the quarantine restrictions were lifted for apples from China, the bastards. One thing that we did have left was our lack of northern hemisphere plant diseases, I don't want Chinese apples, but I got em and any disease that comes with them.

Spot on Sonofgloin. Most of the theft happens through the fractional reserve banking system. They own our increases in GDP + inflation and loan it back to us as debt.Ordinary Australians are losing $16000 pa + interest per working person,to the banking system.30% of our mortage money is borrowed from OS banks. We are borrowing from OS to buy our own land. The debt can never be repaid. This is why everything is being privatised ie to pay for debt.
