Sir Paul Nurse, President of the Royal Society, gives an insight into why science is under attack:

It is an hour out of your day, but I am sure we could all learn from what the OLO readership has to say.

The gene is out of the bottle. People have been happy to accept evolution as science because it really has little affect on their day to day lives. Now that 'science' has insisted that first we were in for an ice age and now for a frying people really don't give a stuff. What has exposed the lies of this kind of 'science' is that politicians now want to tax people and stop progress because of the Green faith that has made many rich and full of self righteousness. This is why people are rejecting this 'green faith' in droves. It is not just scientist who insist on evidence but people who can see that the High Priests such as Gore, Flannery, etc have made failed after failed prophecies. They would be stoned if they were old testament prophecies. Even the failed predictions of the Jehovah's witness look mild compared with these 'High Priest'. Thankfully reasonable thinking people have caught out the pollies and High Priests and so we see the great retreat. The 'scientist' will need to find more theories to keep the funding coming.

Well that went down like a lead balloon. I was hoping some avid OLO’ers would have found time over the weekend to look at the BBC documentary and offered an opinion. The lack of response (and the reasons) is illuminating, but that in itself is not the topic. So be it.

Thank you for responding. I was hoping for some dialogue on how to address the issues Paul Nurse raised, rather than simple confirmation that science is indeed under attack.
