I am absolutely disgusted. I have been reading some of the comments on various forum websites about the death of Steve Irwin and I just cannot believe how some people can say what they have said just two days after his passing. Of course he should get a state funeral, but no, he didn't do anything untoward to deserve what happened. Yes this is tragic for his family. The man died in a freak occurence, but it should open your eyes, you just never know anymore. Your time on this land is precious. Enjoy it, be proud of those who were proud to represent you, be proud of yourself for being apart of this life, be proud to be able to say to people in years to come, we honoured this great man who was proud of being himself and to be an Australian, by giving him his state funeral. We honour his family and can give them something to be proud of, and so when his kids are old enough to understand - just how much we loved Steve Irwin. Isn't that something that we can be proud of doing?

The tall Poppy syndrome isn't just a local phenomena. I wouldn't get too stressed about it. While a few of the critics may be jealous straw men who haven't lived a day in their lives it's more than likely kids seeking a reaction who are responsible for the majority of posting. I've run message forums for over 10 years and I've learned something very important from the experience. The world is full of idiots and it's no use worrying about it.

dakada...Wayne is right...most of these are kids and idiots trying to get a reaction..

Whenever a famous figure dies there are the dicks who just want to be a bit 'random'?
They are not worth a moments thought or grief..
