Audrey,
The issue I have with the questionnaire it left out too many factors and contained too many assumptions. Posted by examinator, Wednesday, 14 July 2010 9:35:27 AM
| |
examinator... maybe... but how many Y12s do you see doing this?
And how much training is provided in schools for this activity drawing on real research attempts? There will be room in her analysis of the results, and feedback from her teacher, to allow her to learn from the experience. School as much about being able to make mistakes as getting things right. Besides, if you are going to offer gratuitous advice, fill it out a little with some detailed suggestions of what you mean, lest you be called churlish. Audrey, well done.
Might I suggest including eNews as a source other than traditional media, as that is my only access to news - no radio/tv/newspapers for me. Posted by Ozymandias, Wednesday, 14 July 2010 10:55:31 AM

Dear Audrey,
Bravo, for having the initiative to do this! I've filled out your questionnaire and hope it helps. Also, all the Best with your studies, and here's wishing you every success! Posted by Foxy, Wednesday, 14 July 2010 11:56:46 AM

Very good survey. The creator has aimed at the whether change of leaders will affect your vote. Questions are objective and aimed at the question. Not cluttered by seeking unnecessary information.

A big thankyou to everyone who's completed my survey!
I'm fortunate some people have rather enjoyed filling it in because it makes me feel like I'm burdening you a little less! I know that it's not perfect, but like blue cross said, I'm learning. And I think it will still provide a lot of usable data, and being able to add in discussions about possible improvements and flaws certainly isn't a bad thing! I realised about the enews thing a while ago and regret not adding it in, but I'd already had a fair few responses by then so was reluctant to make any changes. Thanks again! Just that you did it is helpful, but all of your comments have been encouraging and helpful :) Posted by Audrey Ahmer, Wednesday, 14 July 2010 6:15:46 PM

Good on you Audrey... as my supervisor always said when something didn't quite work quite out as it 'should have'.
"Everything you do provides a research finding, write up the 'no-good bits' with the same enthusiasm as the bits that worked out as you expected them to". Will you post your results here, like OLOs oberfuhrer does? Posted by The Blue Cross, Wednesday, 14 July 2010 6:45:05 PM

certainly, if you're interested!

As an old shop steward.... I am sure I speak for all of us here (just ask Belly). Well, I'm going to anyway AlGoreisRich.
Research is vital, but it's no good without people knowing what it says. If one signs up to OLOs research surveys, as I do, Mr. Graham Young always sends a follow up result, which makes it all the more interesting. Also, it should be a part of part of your 'ethical clearance' process (Google that) to offer the findings to your participants. A brief report would be much appreciated, and your intention to provide that could even be written into the exercise you are undertaking for school as a part of your 'process' section, and I am pretty sure that would be seen as a 'good thing' on your part by your examiner/marker. Not a very extensive survey.Too many surveys like to elict responses that reflect the bias of those generating it.

sorry you feel that way arjay. i tried not to make it biased. i dont even hold a bias myself, im waiting to see what the results say.
and blue cross, will do. watch this space! Posted by Audrey Ahmer, Wednesday, 14 July 2010 9:20:13 PM

Just completed your survey. I am looking forward to the results. As for the content of the survey, I am sure your results will reveal any lack in the questions asked - after all, the best way to learn is by doing. All the best. Posted by Severin, Thursday, 15 July 2010 3:52:54 PM

Audrey Ahmer,
If you only received input from the number of posters here perhaps it could be limited. I filled in the questionaire. However I am a close friend of the Family First Candidates in NSW for both the Federal and State Election and my answers will reflect that knowledge. I have been trying to collect survey responses from wherever I can, to get the most out of the experience and have much more reliable figures.
I tried doing it in person at a mall, but had little success. I've found that people online are so much friendlier and willing, and I am less of an imposition this way. If anyone has any ideas of how to raise my numbers, for example forums to post on, it would be greatly appreciated! I've had a couple of people comment that they are involved with politics and it has influenced their responses. However, I'm not too concerned about it as they are still members of the voting population. Posted by Audrey Ahmer, Thursday, 15 July 2010 9:51:31 PM

My general distrust of politicians remains.
Few worth considering - however they unlikely to stand in my electorate... Annoyed/frustrated at antics of ALP and LibNats, what way to express my concerns, my dissatisfaction, in a way they may get the message ? Guess give Greens my first preference. More familiar with Greens antics than policy, not particularly impressed, doubt prospect of them winning here. Absolute miracle for them to need form a government ! IF Green elected locally ALP and LibNats may finally get message to start fixing things - at least in time following election ! IF enough Greens actually elected nationally and they needed form a government, interesting to see how they managed ! Could they survive a full term ? Who would be the opposition ? polpak,
The Greens seem cosy about the environment, but would bring this country to economic ruin. Have a look at Family First in NSW http://www.familyfirst.org.au/Policies.htm http://www.nsw-familyfirst.org.au/GordonsCrossBench/GorgonsCrossBench.htm Posted by Philo, Friday, 16 July 2010 4:37:47 PM

Philo, would you prefer to have the ALP/Coalition who are cosy with the economy and leave the environment in rack and ruin?
As for Fambly First... come along please.... observe the man in the Senate now, and their policies are really only another form of extreme rightwing 'thinking'. They'd have us living in a ACL led theocracy, with President Rudd at the helm, and Abbott as a Cardinal. Poor Bob would have to continue as the anti-Christ, of course, we cannot tolerate change can we? Posted by The Blue Cross, Friday, 16 July 2010 6:52:21 PM

Philo & Polpak
This thread is about a school child requesting assistance with a project. It is not about proselytising - religious or political. Posted by Severin, Saturday, 17 July 2010 6:55:17 AM

Thanks for having my back Severin :)
However, I did rather enjoy the discussion. It's all like the chats we have in politics class. Plus, anything to bump the thread is alright by me! Posted by Audrey Ahmer, Saturday, 17 July 2010 1:33:16 PM

Dear Audrey
Welcome to adulthood. I think you are going to do very well. Posted by Severin, Saturday, 17 July 2010 4:49:52 PM

It would be very helpful to me if you could spare a minute to fill in this quick, easy, anonymous survey. Participants must be Australian voters. Thankyou very much!
