The things are useless and a blight on the landscape. They are also enormously expensive. I hope the country doesn't bankrupt itself before the penny drops, so to speak.

as I say, it is Engineers who SOLVE the problems

but the solution is far easier if base load is not loaded up with Greenies/Consumers simply ADDING to the problem

ie the place for the greenie is to simply reduce HIS/HER consumption, NOT to tell the Engineer how to do HIS/HER job

I have just read through all the posts on here and I am surprised that
no one has mentioned the real reason why wind generators, when not
on 100 metre masts work so poorly.

The problem is that output is proportional to the cube of the wind speed.

At lower elevations the wind is almost always disturbed somewhat and
these variations reduce the output significantly, to the cube root of
the windspeed.

Even at the height of those large commercial windfarms this problem is
the reason the average over a year is only about 1/4 of their
maximium rated out output.
