George Bush could solve the US debt problem overnight. He could sell Alaska back to the Russians for $11.7 trillion. Now this is a very good deal since the US bought it from the Russians for $1 million. The Russians could pay for it by supplying the US it's oil needs. No need for George to meddle in Middle Eastern affairs.

The only fly in the oinment would be the possible missile silos that might crop up upon the Alaskan border.

Just imagine an irate Merrycan public who would want to crucify Bush for being a false prophet. They could stick George on a cross atop the new Freedom Tower and the Ruskies could take pot shots at him from their new Alaskan home. The mind boggles!

Ah, there's nothing quite like the reasoned political debate we have on this site.

Dear Arjay,

What an interesting idea.
Selling Alaska to the Russians...

I'm sure that Putin would be interested in
buying it because of the oil resources.

However, you're right, the mind boggles...
Would that make Palin a Russian candidate
for the White House? She'd certainly gain
"Foreign experience," without having to leave
Alaska.

Very interesting...

Ya think the Russians HAVE 11 Trillion?

I also wonder what the people of Alaska would say about that...

...or the strategic knife the yanks would put to their own throat by doing it.

StG this was posted in jest.Russia has far more than $11 trillion in oil. This amount of oil would only last the US a few yrs anyway.

Foxy yes,Palin as a Bolshevik would churn many a Merrycan stomach.Bush and Putin see themselves as being poles apart, but both have subjugated their populations on a variation of a theme. They are very alike. It is all about power of a select few and the masses can fight over the crumbs. When you dumb down the pop for short term gain, you destroy real economic productivity. This is happening here as well as the US.

This concept of Globalisation is about condensing wealth and power in fewer hands.BHP Biliton now just increase prices at will. Our resources are virtually given away, yet we still cannot afford to pay for our consumerables.A $600 billion balance of payments deficit represents a debt of $60,000.00 for every working person.

We have danced to the tune to the piper of Globalisation for too long.It is time that we financed our own futures and infrastructure.China can produce a new power station each month, yet we in NSW cannot manage one before 2013.We are the personification of impotence and stupidity.

Eftfnc,Lindsey Williams does raise some interesting scenarios. It was only recently that I was questioning the functions and power of the World Bank with a friend.I agree, there is no world energy crisis, nor likely is there a Global warming crisis, since both scenarios enable the powers that be,to control us more.

Interesting to note that Losing Alaska to Russia poses a threat in terms of ICBM range (tactical threats as well).

Good to see Europe (base of a vast number of American forces) is no where near Russia (oops did I make an error there?)

Cuba <I won't stand for this! I am a Bin Liner!>. Look up missiles in Turkey. (also refer france etc).

Flogging Alaska to the Russians would

A:- make the alaskan wildlife nervous
B:- provide America with potentially a good bonus <<though the deal would inevitably go way out of whack either way based on historical precedent {you guve us snow, we'll pay you a couple of bucks} or {here's 10 yearns GDP, give us some snow}
C:- Confuse the world as the impact wouldn't be felt by anyone other than cartographers.

27bstroke6.

I wonder how VAST these American forces in Europe are?

Outside Germany, there are roughly 30,000 American troops across ALL of Europe. The combined forces of NATO are around 1.5 million, about the same size as the Russian Forces.

Actually I have but one last question.Hu is Putin Bush to the Torch?
Ans.It is Bush himself. The Merrycans have wrought more destruction on themselves than all the terrorists on the planet. The enemy always comes from within.
