What are your thoughts

The aged and disabled care policies of the present government have failed to provide those people with the care they need for a reasonable quality of life.

There is justifiable community concern that the current deregulated aged and disabled care system, inadequate staffing levels and declining standards of care, together with the growing numbers of people being forced to wait longer for nursing home beds, care and respite are indicative of the government’s lack of priority in this important policy area.

A national shortage of nurses has affected the supply available to aged care, particularly in rural and regional areas. Lower pay rates in the care sector than in other nursing areas and poor conditions have exacerbated this issue.

Significantly more aged care places will be needed as our population ages. recognises that many aging carers are worried about the future of their spouse, or disabled child or grandchild.
Australian Peoples Party recognises that there many older Australians who are carrying caring responsibilities into old age and often with inadequate financial resources.

You need to separate these two issues. The majority of people in Australia with disabilities are aged between 15 and 50.

Yet the only place for the 22% of disabled people, (who do not live at home) to be looked after, is in aged care facilities.

I agree that more needs to be done, but do not confuse the two issues.

Hi
yes i am aware of that and the policys i have do do that quite well even though keeping in the same grouping.

ie the policy as a who fixes problems but also breaks into the aged and disabled groupings.
