Well,NSW has a new Premier. He is young ,articulate, passionate and promises to eliminate the spin Doctors and fix our ailing economy.

Over the yrs the NSW ALP has appointed key people in our Public Service not based on ability or merit, but on the tribal machinations of their party. These key PS have been advising our various ALP ministers, thus we in NSW have now reached our lowest ebb in living memory and the worst is yet to come.

Nathan Rees seemingly has his heart in the right place, but can his good will and intentions overcome the cronyism and nepotism that has reduced NSW to it's present basket case status?

I hope that for the sake of all residents of NSW that he is successful.

Any reason you have been advised of, Arjay, as to why your topic did not come up on the News and Current Affairs part of the General Discussion Index for just over 48 hours after your submission of the topic?

I can see nothing actionable or improper in the post as it now appears. Was anything removed from it as originally submitted? I don't want you to air any dirty linen, just a 'yes' or a 'no' will suffice. A 'yes' will explain the delay. A 'no' will leave a question mark over the reason for the delay.

I'm sure OLO aims for maximum transparency and evenhandedness in maintaining users' access to the discussion facilities in an equitable manner. One consequence of this delay is that a very topical discussion was seemingly kept off the index during perhaps its most current period of interest. For any viewer or user who runs with the default setting and uses the 'last post' option for displaying topics, your topic never would have got a run. It now shows as 1 post, 2 days ago, and eighth on the list.

No red flag.

Not in the first five.

On the face of it, not a fair go, as I can see no similar topic on the index that may have otherwise constituted a reason for any uncertainty as to its acceptance on the basis of there already being an existing similar discussion.

The more paranoid, or perhaps perceptive, of us could see a form of censorship in operation.

Please explain.

Forrest ,nothing was deleted.I suspect is was mainly because Grahamy was OS and I have made ref to PS nepotism/cronies,there my have been legal implications.Note also,no other new posts in General Discussion have been made since Thursday last week.
My attacks on the PS in NSW are not intended as personal slights on those who work there.I'm looking at the process which has wrought this distruction. Many in the PS are just as disgusted as myself.

We will soon know if Nathan Rees is fair dinkum,in his promised reforms. His first statments about increasing taxes are the very reason for our economic demise. You cannot continue to extract blood from a dead carcass.Other statements like being shocked about the economic reality and having no inkling about Milton Orkopolous whilst working in his office, seem a bit incredulous.

I will give him the benefit of the doubt and hope that finally we have someone in the ALP who is aspiring beyond swine status.

Arjay,

Since my previous post I have noticed that Foxy's topic was also delayed in being approved.

What may have happened is that GrahamY TOOK THE WEEKEND OFF!

Imagine! Taking time off! Very bad.

I have reset my paranoia meter in the light of this probable deplorable departure from the OLO work ethic by Graham and Susan. If only they realised how much they hold back real life by such derelictions.

Arjay how do you get you information on NSW public servants?
22 years swimming in that septic tank showed me the reverse is quite often true.
Remember Max the Axe?
Max Moore Wilton?
He headed a state instrumentality I had to meet him, no one doubts who,s stooge he was.
And in all truth My post history is full of events that shows our public service following conservative footsteps including using anti union contractors by preference no matter what costs or out comes.
Rees is what he appears he will very soon undo much of the madness and you may yet change your view.
Mark the failed sale of public assets as the renewal of the ALP and total failure of your mob who lost their way on the yellow brick road.
PS
A truly fond memory of Max the Axe he warned us at our first meeting he had no more than 15 minutes.
A unionist refused to shake his hand[ great unionist] Max spent the next hour plus asking him why!
Our only other meeting saw him snarl at me, a badge of honor I carry with me.

I don't know about the likelyhood of Rees being scuttled by PS, but I have one mark against him already, which is dssapointing.

I simply do not beleive that he was not aware of the bad state of the finances of NSW until he became Premier. He was in the Government and,I think, in Cabinet, so he must have been aware.

Either that or Morris lemma lied to his Cabinet.

Bad start to lie straight off.

It was good at least to see that Rees was up front about the problems and what broadly needs to be done about them. Whether or not he can deliver, we'll just have to wait and see.

One person he could follow is Peter Dowding, the WA Premier who took over from Brian Burke after the WA Inc fiasco. Dowding did a great job in soberly going about putting the WA Government back on an even keel after all the financial rorting and mates deals that had been going on.

So, things can change as long as Rees is the right guy.

Banjo,it is indeed a bad start.Either he is stupid or he is lying. Some months ago even Graham Young was saying the NSW is broke and Graham knows Rees personally.

They are just trying to fudge their way through the next election, hoping that the Libs will again self destruct. They will not undertake reform of the PS since this will upset the Unions.

It is a total mess from top the bottom. The NSW PS is comatose with it's own regulations and fear of the legal disease. The process is more important than the outcomes. They have not only killed business with rules, regulation and taxes but they then make us prey to big business who contract to them.It costs us at leat 3 times the market cost in private enterprise to get anything done in a Govt contract. They are so stupid that even their contracts are flawed leaving the tax payer open to both extra outrageous charges and even litigation.A case in point is the ticketing fiasco. We are being sued for $200 million.

Rees has talked about more taxes, yet makes no mention of curbing their own excesses.I don't think he has a clue.

Nothing short of dramatic surgery will remove this cancer from our midst. We need a change of Govt now!
