I'm working on ABC TV'S new youth current affairs show The Hack Half Hour.
Hosted by Steve Cannane, The Hack Half Hour is a single-issue, 30 minute panel-style program which will air on Monday nights at 8.30pm EST on ABC2.
It aims to be a gritty, raw approach to current affairs using youth people's experiences as the focal point. Our core audience are 15 - 35 year olds.
I'm producing an episode of this on the property market. The Great Australian Dream is to own your own home. But with prices so high and interest rates increasing this is not looking likely for a lot of people. I'm looking for the following types of people for the discussion because young people feel really torn about what they should do:
* Someone who bought and lost
* Someone who bought and won
* Someone who chose to travel
* Someone who chose to party
* People who chose to rent instead
* Someone who feels they missed the boat
* Siblings or friends who have split the debt
* Still living at home saving
Let me know if this is you or you know someone who fits the bill!!
Thank you

You should do an episode on the death of liberty in Australia under our twin conservative governments.

No dear Steel.. he should do a doco on how the secularists raped and stole the American liberty of religion and jackbooted them with secularism.

When the supreme court looked at how many people believed in God prior to deciding to outlaw prayer in schools..they found 97% of people believed.. but the sided with the 3%..go figure.. I call that a bloodless coup.

ABC.. those things might interest the younger set ..I guess.

I'd rather see something on "what are our real values..and on what do they depend and how have they been hijacked by secularists?"

BOAZ I presume you then want your values to be pushed onto others? What is your position on gay marriage? And the general rights of gay people (currently legalised gay sex, for example)?

Gee, Hack, you can't have much of a budget if you've got to resort to doing your research on OLO!

Perhaps a future program should look at the chronic underfunding of our public broadcaster!

I've got no idea about their budget Bronwyn, but I reckon it's great to see them using the Internet to do their research. I imagine we're not the only site that has been used in this way. It makes sense to solicit ideas as widely as possible. Using the Internet to do this provides scale that other ways don't, and could well make an adequate budget even more adequate. Full marks to "Hack" for getting with the Web2.0 program!

What Graham said. And Hack is a good place to start. It should dispel some of the myths about how disengaged and ignorant young people are these days. It's great radio and should make great TV.

My 21 year old daughter is renting and not even thinking about buying. The size of your average mortgage is too terrifying for someone who hates debt.

I'm not prepared to publish my email address here, but would be happy for Graham to pass it on. Which reminds me, must update my email address here.

Good Idea Hack, does that mean you will address the, not in my backyard mentality, the so called Greens, that's our green space so piss off and live somewhere else preferably down there next door to the railway station or bus station so you can get out of my green space now as we are over populated and you will destroy my favorite animals,& or Labour party monopoly rents and the central planning, you must live in a small wooden box mantra because efficiently dictates(which has been proven to be crap),or you can only build affordable housing in the left-over space preferably old industrial sites or gullies or local parks excess to councils requirements as it is to small to fit into our big picture plans and the, you cant build affordable housing next door to me as it will lower my values because the only ones to deliver this type of housing are government and they are not famous in the style dept and don't want the creative private sector to do it as it will outshine all their current and past failed models and make a profit and they will have to retrain all those people working for government housing departments and miss out on all that milking of developers for political gain. Or the price only issues like supply and demand for example, or will it be the usual abc,s reality denial as usual syndrome because we can't because of Global warming, peak oil, etc.

congratulations Hack on making it to TV, albeit ABC2. If it as good as the radio version I'll be happy.
