The “Iguana-gate” affair shows what many people have known for a long time: that people in power often get what they want by bullying their way around. Threatening people by standover tactics, or whatever other means, should be targeted by society and the media and exposed for what it is. I was happy to see that not only was Belinda Neal and John Della-Bosca’s behaviour brought to light, but that the workings in the inner sanctum (i.e. details of the manipulation of witness’s statutory declarations) was also exposed. This gives me hope that there will be more justice in society.

Not only does this episode right wrongs and unravel wrong behaviour though the antiseptic effect of the light, but it gives back a dose of medicine to the right-wing bullies in proportion to what they themselves have dished out

It is true that it is nice to see such shenanigans brought to light, but I'd hardly expect it to become a common occurence. Della Bosca undertook to support the position of the labour caucus, but betrayed them in order to support Iemma. This really is the only reason why the behind-the-scenes machinations are suddenly exposed to daylight. Senator Colston would be another example of what happens to labour rats.

Of course, both the liberals and nationals engage in similar behaviour, it is just normally less visible (except for the publicity surrounding Barnaby Joyce not so long ago).

Imagine how many times Della and Neal have gotten away with this in the past.Judging by their response,it is more the norm than a drunken aberation.
If the people of NSW do not vote them out next election,then it is curtains for us all.
