if IQ is the level, how does commonsense fit into it all.

Commonsense is better.
Look at me.
No super IQ (and proud of it...too much distraction with IQ...got to analyse everything...got to know the angles and the trajectory before you dive in and save a drowning man...got to try and figure if there is a God, without praying to Him and asking Him to Reveal Himself) but know how to do the simple things and many of the wise things.
You sure can get through with a bit of application and a bit of commonsense.
I think often beyond commonsense and basic life knowledge many can get to schizophrenia or forms of it.
The mind wasnt meant to hold too much.
You cant figure out the Universe anyway if you move away from the Bible.

Well gibo, does god have commonsense? or a supreme IQ? or maybe just a good sense of humor? Its hard for me to define this being or entity and lets not forget the love that is the basis for the out look for all his creatures.( I cant remember posting this thread or what the point was, so I will try and make the best of it)lol. I must monitor my in-take of beverages when sitting that the computer)lol.

For me, its commonsense. I have the IQ of a garden snail. smile.

So if god wanted us to follow him, her or it, wouldn't it be better to show its self? Gibo. If he is there, I can conclude that it has a warped sense of, Well I don't know what.

But as I look around the world, religion doesnt seem to be working too well.
Its a funny old world these days and I think the human race is going down the toilet.
But if the people of the world have some type of IQ, commonsense, and god, why are we so stupid?

"a supreme IQ? or maybe just a good sense of humor?" - evolution.

I saw the President of MENSA for the US, interviewed; He said the good thing about MENSA club meetings was, "everyone understood your jokes".

My brother once encountered a golden-graduatecon his staff temprorery enroute to higher things [there's a pun if you patient]. This guy had deliver a letter to the sixty-something floor of MLC Tower in Martin Place, Sydney [low-medium rise]. How can I find the MLC Tower? My brother's "common sense" reply was to stand in the centre of Martin Place and look-up.

[Any Sydney-sider knows there is only one building above thirty stories in Martin Place, even if they don't know its name.]

Gibo. You say commonsense! Well if you don't take the angles and trajectory into consideration, there might be a sand bar or what got the man in trouble in the first place, or you might turn the wrong way and jump into a tree, then saving the drowning man would be pointless with a broken neck.
The poor man would be no better off. smile.

Individual. It is not ignorance, more like confusion.

Oliver. smile

Evolution,
silly me, here I am thinking that the more education one receives the more enlightened & thus less confused one should be.
Let's just be glad for all the level-headed thinkers who were not exposed to & confused by higher education.

Higher education aint so bright, says me with an "aint".
Think of all those bright fellows who split the atom and built the bomb.
There wasnt much commonsense then.
They seemed to have forgotten that if you build another weapon, be it bow and arrow or bomb, others will want it and then it gets used.

Evolution.
The Bible says we are made in the image of God so He will have what we have as IQ (far greater of course), commonsense and a sense of humour.
We got the sin nature additional though, through the fall.
God sure does show Himself.
He sends His Spirit to all who receive Jesus as their Saviour.
We see Him in Creation and in the perserverance of His Jesus followers.
Have you read Foxes Book of Martyrs?
For christians to go through some of that, there has to be a God they know intimately in very close relationship by His Spirit.
We're so stupid is easy ...we are a fallen species and we do dumb things related to greed and desires gone amiss.

Individual. The confusion comes with what mankind does with its education. You know as well as I do, not much in this world is logical. Gibo is on the money "bombs!. Einstein created confusion by using his higher education for mass destruction, plus now we have to find a place for the waste. At the time, no-bell prizes and pats on the back were warranted, cause it was break-though for medicines and so forth. But now the world lives in fear and dirty bombs, well perish the thought.

Overpopulation! again! another no brain-er. Religious in-differences, disease risks, cause we are all pack in like sardines and the reality goes on, and on and on. And you wonder why Iam confused.
Ignorant! Anyone would think your having a shot at me. But that's OK, I have a think skin. But maybe your right about me being ignorant, cause trying to tell the rest of the world they are the true meaning of word, well, you should know how hard that is.

I suspect common sense in some respects isn't as common as it is believed to be and in other respects more common.

"Einstein created confusion by using his higher education for mass destruction.."

The higher education he received. Wasn't he a high school drop out who had to take a non-standard entry into higher education (teaching at Swiss polytechnic) getting in on his second attempt after being rejected by several universities? For that matter as creative and generally capable and as much as he knew his physics do we know for sure he was a genius? Was his IQ ever actually measured? What if he was just moderately intelligent and passionate about physics?

Is he a genius or just how people want them to be like? People are more comfortable thinking that such people are frazzled haired eccentrics apparently lacking coherency and common sense like elderly Einstein then equal to other people in other respects. Einstein, who lacked friends at school and couldn't get a job until he became acclaimed, on one occasion said that "religion without science is blind and science without religion is dead" yet on another occasion wrote "For me the Jewish religion like all others is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions,". All indications are it was no major conversion just Einstein on different days.

I suspect there is prejudice against intelligent people and a type of xenophobic like fear so he is brought to the fore for his awkwardness. He is the genius version of the nasty Phelpian hillbilly Christian that the media like to hold up for display because they are prejudiced against Christians. He personifies the non threatening genius but was he a genius?

Commonsense is the ability to use the IQ(intelligence)in practical and useful ways. This ability seems to come naturally to some people and they are the lateral thinkers and real problem solvers in our society. The rest of us have commonsense to different degrees in different ways. Some people don't seem to have much at all despite being well educated.

If ever Im lost in the wilderness I'll be sticking close to the ones I know have commonsense because that'll be the best way to survive.
