I wouldn’t agree that the most intelligent & highly educated people in society are leftwing history teachers."

That is a question not a statement Horus - there is no danger of you being mistaken for one of the most highly educated people in the country.

Your"question" does not just ask -it implies what it "asks" is true.
Perhaps you are too close to the forest to see the trees.

I hate it when media-prominent people sling off at such persons as Leftist, Maoist, chardonnay sipping, latte drinking, humanities academics.
I hate it because I was once a university lecturer to education students and I can testify that most of the students were pretty conservative in their attitudes and that in our lunchtime wine club (soberly once a month only) we preferred shiraz. And also that Instant was much more readily available than latte.
We seem very ready to stick labels onto people and then damn the labels rather than argue any real substance.
Goodness, I hate all those "red necked, dyed in the wool, neocons"

ROB1234567890 Your"question" does not just ask -it implies what it "asks" is true.

That implication is entirely in your own imagination - you are assuming that the question was rhetorical - it was not. That question actually implies nothing - this is very easy to prove because if it did imply something you would be able to logically explain how that thing was implied which you cannot do.

If I had meant the question rhetorically I would not have used a query mark. Remember we dont have the luxury of hearing people's inflection here - methinks thou dost presume too much and think too little Whoreus.

What’s the point with Julie? Criticism is leftist and dictation is Rightist? Maybe Julie Bishop is right? Maybe the neo –conservatives who claim the Holocaust never happened have a point then, perhaps we should shut out all perspectives of history and accept the official history invented by our glorious leaders. Maybe the true history is really of an Australia that is a womanless nation led by Captain Cook with a swag over his shoulder and swinging a cricket bat, defending Australia from evil not totally white and Satan worshipping unionised shearers.
I imagine the motivation for Canberra to manipulate history is because it is quite likely that Howard is destined to go down in history as a weak and dishonest leader and no more than a megalomaniac puppet of the Bush regime. I cannot see how changing history to protect Howard will hold. Julie Bishop should put forward a suggested program of book burning and an inquisition to wipe out historians so history can start again from year zero.
Otherwise future Australians will know the land was occupied by people for thousands of years, the Dutch, Portuguese and Spanish were the first Europeans to grace our shores, the male convicts were hardened criminals and not bread stealers, their women were imported prostitutes and we stripped the land bare and that’s why we have water rationing
