PANDORA THE BOX, well pandora is something that you open and we the forgotten australians are and have opened the pandora box ,and the goverment of australia needs to admitt to the truth of the rapes and abuse that the children of australia suffered in their state run institutions , orphaanages, girls homes ,boys homes, remand centres, foster homes out of home care ,and church homes, we are the victims of horriffic crimes that the australian goverment are still covering up and, are trying their best to sweep us under the carpet, we will not be forgotten and we will continue our fight for justice, they the goverment are protcting those pedophiles that work for the states of australia ,not only that they tip off the pedophiles, so they don't get captured, as we have seen in recent months ,

huffnpuff, the reason why paedophiles are literally protected is because peadophiles in general know very early in their lives that their tendency is very wrong. So, to get away with their abhorrent practices they enter professions which afford them the protection they enjoy.
I think you already know what these professions are. On the other end of the scale I did surprise a 70 year old community elder about 20 years ago while he was fondling a girl of about 8 and when I told another comunity member about it the answer was "ha,ha, that dirty old bugger". garpet, are you referring to the establishment of a database for the management and control of dissidents? well, of everyone actually..
yep, '1984' style society is creeping up on little cat feet. it's your fault, you know. you and all those other docile, house-trained sheep that pass themselves off as citizens of a democracy. you get the government you deserve. no organization, no education, no determination, results in no freedom. DEMOS, I am afraid that your comment and the ones before yours completely misses my points.
Since computing began in earnest the way that people have kept records in business and especially in government have changed. No longer do we keep paper records as we have done for eons, we now have electronic messages and 'records'. The "technotronic era" has resulted in governments and businesses being able to be less accountable simply because there is less chance of anyone being able to find a trace of communications and other "documents". It is in THIS context that I tried to look light heartedly at the wit of those who have named their document and records management processes after Pandora's box AND then used the name of an endangered species to name the system that controls it all. I guess I should have posted to a more erudite group - you and your colleagues obviously don't get it! Posted by garpet1, Sunday, 28 October 2007 9:37:18 AM

perhaps, garapet , you would be happier in a closed tech site. this one's is primarily about current affairs, politics in particular.
you are wrong to disparage the importance of data mangement in population control: it's not the inability to touch paper documents that will put inconvenient people in a box. it's power and motivation increasingly aided by technicians. Posted by DEMOS, Sunday, 28 October 2007 11:48:52 AM

CARPET1, isn;t it sad that you don'y beleave the victims of the forgotten australians , as it is their maybe computors in the eighties and onwards , as for the paper work, the goverment ,had of these homes ,a lot of this has misteriously gone missing so that shows the cover up, also the wikepia does not give all the true stories as it is run by the goverment i understand , so is it they use that encyclopidia ,so they can amend any sayin , and the other thing we are not talking about , hundreds of years ago ,as for the stolen generation they were regonized by the goverment this is totally diffrent we were victims of the goverment who employed these pedophiles , read the senate inquirie forgotten australians dated august 2004 and march 2005 , then come back and give your thoughts , we are the forgottoen australians and we will not be forgotten

garpet 1,
since computers have been unleashed onto the mindless masses, mindlessness has quadrupled. everyone who can download some dumb song thinks they are bees knees. In my work the paper trail has increased 5-fold despite the facility of storing data on hard disk. The government has IT sections by the hundreds but is unable to retrieve a simple email or report without the standard excuse of 'we're receiving too many requests". This is why computers were invented for crying out loud. PANDORA's BOX hasn't even had it's lid touched yet with what's yet to come. presently there are still some people who think when they do something. I have already observed people who roll up stoned & hungover & then sit in front of Government computers. luckily, most of them only play solitaire. you just wait when these morons get up the ladder in the public service. you won't need to open PANDORA's BOX, it'll fly open by itself. Individual, I think we can all tell that you are likely to be part of a generation of people who were born prior to the current Generation Y. You actually seem to think about working for a living and actually seem to think about doing something other than wanting to find a nice computer game you can play while you 'earn' your money.
All credit to you! Saw something on: http://www.management-issues.com/2007/10/26/research/welcome-to-generation-y.asp that you may find interesting. I will most likely comment on this at another time when I write about "The New Dickensian Era" aka "Great Expectations of Generation Y" Back on subject - In most organisations there are state of the art monitors and desk top boxes provided for the use of staff. Often alas, the infrastructure behind what is provided to them, is either complete crap or shall we say "less than useful" If you know anything about computing at all you will know that unless you have a decent set of people and processes to manage what goes in an what comes out of computers then more often than not you have GIGO or garbage in and garbage out. If you are so completely peeved with what's going on in your work place, what are you TRYING to do about it and why have you failed? Posted by garpet1, Monday, 29 October 2007 4:44:46 AM

Pandora's box. I just love this train of thought. LOL.
Answer this! When you ask your self a question, who are you asking"?. Posted by evolution, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 10:19:25 PM

evolution - "the sounds of silence" (with apologies to the musicians who have performed this song) seem to reign in your brain - I do not see your answer along with your question. So who are YOU asking?

The human mind is a Pandora's box. Just look at history. But it all comes down to our insecurity as a spices. There is a new way of thought, called the power of three's. You can find this within your self.
We all have it. The triangle is the clue. Ask your self this! After you have asked god and your inner and your outer self, what is left, and why? Posted by evolution, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 11:41:04 PM

Answer Is! nothing. With out thous three things, all you have is an empty body.
I think the human mind is the real pandora's box, and it was meant to warn man about the dangers of opening the female mind. To put it simply, both man and woman share this correlation. Greek mythology has a different point of view. Just a thought. Posted by evolution, Thursday, 1 November 2007 9:15:30 PM

"In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman. Each god helped create her by giving her unique gifts. Zeus ordered her creation as a punishment for mankind, in retaliation for Prometheus' having stolen fire and then giving it to humans for their use. She is most famous for carrying a jar (pithos) (or box) containing all the world's evils. She releases these evils, but closes the lid before Hope can escape."
There is a modern PANDORA right here in Australia.
PANDORA is actually an acronym for "Preserving and Accessing Networked Documentary Resources of Australia." accompanied by the PANDAS or "The PANDORA Digital Archiving System"
How wonderful to know that this Federal government has released all the world's evils and kept back hope while the mechanism which manages the content is named after one of the most endangered species on the planet.
Someone seems to have a sense of humour in government or are they just mocking us with their lack of accountability?
