Paul1405,
Yes I do recall enlightening you but did I call you that ? I didn't find it offensive & if you do then I'm offended at your lack of humour.
What I find really offensive is your perpetual opportunistic phishing for excuses to justify your favourite but utterly unwarranted accusations of people being racist. Am i offended being called a ghost or markai ? No but I could pretend I am but then again I'm of different mentality to yours !
Just to be clear, I was totally unaware that JCB was offensive & to avoid similar drawn-out feigned indignation from you in future can you please state all the terms you're offended by now & in the future so I can choose my words accordingly ?

Hi Indy,

Yes, I should be lenient on you, considering English is not your first language and some words and their meanings may be lost in translation. Are Torres Strait Islanders referring to you as a "Markai", which I wouldn't take offence at as it's in their spiritual contexts, referring to you as a respected ancestral ghost.

I was interested in your reference to people claiming to be Aboriginal when they are supposedly not. If people (claiming Aboriginality) are to be categorise as legitimate and non-legitimate, how would you determine that?

Some of my Maori brethren refer to me as a "Pakeha" which to me just means "white fella". Actually my brother-in-law remonstrated with a nephew once for using that word, directing it at me. If a Maori met you he might refer to you as a "Hainamana" or "Hindilala", do you have a $2 shop?

Paul1405,
This is one of great difficulties societies are tackling with & it can only be determined with DNA testing. My friend actually suggests that it'll only be overcome if no-one can marry & have children with someone of their own race. As far as the dreadful racism goes this seems logical as it would literally do away with multiculturalism which is the actual great divide.
I think it'll happen naturally over time anyway.
As for the question I can only answer it with a question. If a person is born to immigrants of the same race, ethnicity, culture is born in Australia does that make them Australian or Aborigine or give them the legitimate Right to claim so ?
Is a person of Malay ethnicity born In Australia eligible to claim Aboriginality or islander ? Is a person with a partial Maori & PNG parent eligible to claim Aboriginality ? Or a Chinese, Indian,Japanese, Irish, Filipino & even by some Caucasians ? I think it is time to take Australian Aboriginaliity more respectful for many obvious reason from cheapening their ethnicity to outright exploitation & fraud.

Hi Indy,

You need to understand the meaning of the words "Aboriginal" and "Indigenous".

Aboriginal; The first, being those with ancestors who inhabited or were existing in a land from the earliest times.

Indigenous; The collective of those with ancestry who inhabited a land before colonisation took place.

Your mob don't fit.

As for your DNA nonsense, how would you propose that be carried out? Forced testing by the Department of Racial Purity! Those who refuse, given a minimum of 5 years hard labour. How Nazi is that. Hummm.

You mob never come up with anything new, its always the recycled rubbish from the far right extremist of yesteryear.

Paul1405,
I suppose the testing would reveal the truth & the band wagon would screech to a halt by the real figures.
Aboriginal vs Indigenous had no way of knowing & telling where they originated. Only Western developed science is only just recently getting the technology together to improve the guesswork regarding the origin of human kind let alone know for certain. The Aborigines of today aren't the same as those from the earliest of times just as all others around the planet.
The 60,000 years claims can not yet be substantiated although Academic Government funding recipients try to convince us otherwise. Some scientists tell us that there's an ice age every ten or so thousand years. To survive six ice ages would make the Aborigine the hardiest & smartest survivors of all. Did they really make it through or did new strands of DNA develop due to different climatic & environmental conditions ? I think we'd all agree on the lower sea levels during ice would have also allowed new people to cross over.
The common link has yet to be found & if it is it will most likely be in Asia.
However, since our arguments are about today we should be focussing on today & thereafter & accept our faults & learn from them rather than resorting to perpetual hypocritical excuses to exploit & divide a society that could be made so much better than it is ! The real question is; do the people living here want this Nation to be what it it started as or turn it into a mayhem of dysfunctional incompatible groups as this continent was before it became Australia !
