US oil industry doesn’t see profit in Trump’s ‘pro-petroleum’ moves

As reported yesterday in an article from The Conversation website:

“As the Trump administration makes announcement after announcement about its efforts to promote the U.S. fossil fuel industry, the industry isn’t exactly jumping at new opportunities.

Some high-profile oil and gas industry leaders and organizations have objected to changes to long-standing government policy positions that give companies firm ground on which to make their plans.

And the financial picture around oil and gas drilling is moving against the Trump administration’s hopes. Though politicians may tout new opportunities to drill offshore or in Arctic Alaska, the commercial payoff is not clear and even unlikely.

More than 250 East Coast local governments have passed resolutions against drilling.
Governors on both sides of the aisle, including Democrat Josh Stein of North Carolina and Republicans Brian Kemp of Georgia and Henry McMaster of South Carolina, have spoken out against drilling off their coasts".

Last year Shell abandoned its Alaska’s North Slope oil leases, raising questions about the industry’s future in Alaska.

I have said many times on OLO that investment follows economics not politics and the author of this article agrees.

The current economics does not favour fossil fuels.

Is this the same as when cult leader Albo says no one wants to build a coal fired power station in Australia because they aren't economic at the same time as Indonesia builds a heap of them and usurps our mineral processing with cheap power?

"The current economics does not favour fossil fuels."

Is that so NFI? Why then does the IEA data show that fossil fuels and nuclear power provide over 85% of the world's energy?

You have been pumping out a lot of propaganda from Albo and his grifter buddies of late. Ordinary Australians and fauna are suffering unnecessarily because of the renewable energy con.

End the ban and ditch the grifters.

WTF?

Fester asks:" Why then does the IEA data show that fossil fuels and nuclear power provide over 85% of the world's energy?

The answer - because that's the current state of affairs.

But that is not the topic.

"The current economics does not favour fossil fuels."

US oil production figures for the year to September 2025 - 13.6 million barrels per day (mb/d)

Previous year - 13.2 mb/d

2025 was a new record year beating out 2024 which in turn had been a record year. Six separate months in 2025 have been record production months.

____________________________________________-

US natural gas production figures for the year to September 2025 - 107.7 Bcf/d (billion cubic feet/day)

Previous year - 103.2 Bcf/d

2025 was the highest production year since 1973. Every month of 2025 has been a record for this century.

Yep, the US fossil fuel industry is falling apart </sarc>

Maybe it's because the fossil fuel industry is wary of over-production? And if the the wind and solar con is so great economically, why don't they exist without the subsidies? They've been subsidised for the past thirty years. When will they find their feet? Nuclear is heavily regulated and has been heavily taxed, yet it survives and produces low cost low carbon dispatchable energy.

End the ban and ditch the grifters.

It has now been admitted that coal will be needed up to 2049 - when it will suddenly be shut down because of the success of Net Zero by 2050, apparently.

The whole thing just gets sillier and sillier.
