Asbestos Brake Shoes in Wind Turbines

A whole lot of the usual worry about a straightforward Problem.
Of course asbestos anywhere needs to be treated seriously.
Without detailed knowledge however it seems reasonable to consider
the asbestos brake shoes for removal.
However understand that unlike car brake shoes their purpose is not to
bring the lift to a halt but hold in position when the brakes are applied.
So a lot less asbestos dust will be released.
The shoes will be either on a hauling drum at the top of the shaft or mounted underneath the car itself.
Either way it will probably take longer to remove any dust than to
change the brake shoes.
So no need to consider it a major problem, even less of a problem
than changing your cars brake shoes.

Also from China comes the asbestos in childrens' coloured play 'sand'.

Not to worry: The spokesman for Communist China in Australia, Anthony Albanese, will explain that China's asbestos is OK. It's only Australia's asbestos that is dangerous.

It is funny that while Albanese is chockablock up the Commos, everyone was told to switch off their mobile phones and internet devices while one of them was in Parliament House.

A little more info has come to light.
There is another set of brakes used in the turbines.
When the wind blows over 25kms/hr the turbine has to
be shut down and brakes are used to do that.
This would produce much dust I imagine.
I think it is safe to assume that the asbestos problem
is very real and the next time they stop because of
lack of wind the rotating part should be locked until
the brakes are replaced.
