team that won the world title kissed her in front of hundreds and

It spoilt a happy time.

I remember seeing this on the news and frankly I didn't
pay much attention to it. I didn't bother to find out
if the guy behaved inappropriately forcing a full on
mouth kiss (and tongue) or whether it really was just
"stealing an innocent kiss of pure joy and happiness".

I frankly wasn't that interested.

I wasn't sure if the man was a sleaze bag with a reputation.

I just thought it was up to others in the sports team to
decide.

My personal views growing up - and dealing with things like
this was - smile and take it as a compliment.

I used to get many wolf--whistles -
especially when passing construction sites
in the city. I'd always smile, wave, and mouth the words -
"Thank You".

And also I got quite a few kisses from colleagues. I
managed to thank them as well. I never felt demeaned in any
way neither did I feel it necessary to demean or embarrass
the kisser. I always thought their intentions were good.

But that's just me.

There's a bit more to the story than just some bloke sneaking a kiss in a moment of joy following their world cup win. There had been tension in the Spanish female soccer team for some time over what they perceived as unequal and sexist treatment by the Spanish football authorities.

The kiss was just the straw that broke the camels back, so to speak.

All a storm in a teacup, but the women will probably end up getting what they think is fairer treatment from the new authorities who will live in fear of looking sideways at any female soccer player again. Then the women will complain that they aren't getting the attention they imagine they deserve.

Times change. What was once considered acceptable or even complimentary is no longer ok. Assuming your “stolen” kiss happened a long time ago I think you’re safe from a knock on the door by authorities. If you’re still a teenager, it might be problematic.

And I suspect this kiss was very different from the one you stole. It was very public, and done by a man in a position of authority. It was an expression of dominance, not flirtation.

I’m guessing you are a straight male beyond the first flush of youth. If so, imagine if Daren Young, the first openly gay wrestler in the World Wrestling Entertainment game with a formidable physique, bundled you up against the wall and gave you a full-on smacker complete with tongue-down-throat while your workmates watched on and the tv cameras were rolling.

My guess is not many adult men have been physically monstered into unwelcome sexual contact of this sort. I was inviting you to imagine a scenario where it happened, and how you might feel

Telling jokes, flirting etc in fact all these vital parts of getting to know someone new & the act of socialising in harmony was killed off by extremely loud music when conversation became impossible !
That's what changed society & not for the better either ! Even just looking at someone appealing can invoke the wrath of a socially inept. One just has to look at tattoos. I have seen some stunning looking females but their whole body was covered with that graffiti ! Hoe demoralising to see such God-given looks being totally ruined by tattoos !
I was actually accosted by one such walking graffiti board when she overheard me saying to a friend "what a shame this stunning women ruining her looks with tattoos" !

What this incident highlighted was rife misogynistic behavior by the male dominated hierarchy in Spanish Women's Soccer.

A news item from NZ, a cousin of my wife's; Ranjera Tau, and so is the victim.

Ngapuhi leader Raniera (Sonny) Tau 63, was jailed for indecent assault after a seven-year legal battle.
The victim, assaulted at age 16, endured community backlash and rejected a $20,000 offer.
Judge Taryn Bayley sentenced Tau to three years and seven months and cited his previous convictions.

You would not believe with chatter on 'Facebook' there are those, including many Maori women, supporting Tau with lots of victim blaming etc.

Tau held a very senior position in my wife's tribe back home. He used that position to abuse this young girl, and probably others. Many tried to silence her, and she was subjected to some vile ridicule and hate, both verbal and physical.

One thing I have noted in my present era is that women, especially
those say 25 and above is that they prefer men who are men and behave
somewhat like men of old and really treat them as ladies and not as
feminists.
You know, like moving a chair for them to sit in a restaurant, hurrying
around the car to open the door for them to get out.
Simple things like that. One of my son's commented that his girlfriend,
now his wife said she noticed how much more considerate he was than others.
I never gave him such specific instruction except to say a girlfriend
will always note how you treat her, especially in an argument.

Things are looking up, well sort of, just went out to the Port Of Brisbane, picked up 10 dozen boxes of 700g Weetbix, will give them out mostly to families next week. Check out a mob in your area Cleveland, I've got a lot of time for, Night Ninjas. These are the type of guys in hoods we need on the streets at night. BTW, They also have 'Hair Aid' on their beat, we do to, great free service from professional hair dressers, lots of folk can't afford a hair cut, not at 25 bucks. So if you need a feed and a trim, you know where to go.
