An accepted definition, and the one I accept of a person who could be considered an "Uncle Tom";.
"A person regarded as betraying their cultural and/or social allegiance." That's not limited by colour or race.
Such betrayal may be of good intent, believing through certain actions or inaction they will minimise harm to themselves and/or for those within their own grouping. In the case of indigenous people, where some leaders have attempted to appease aggressive colonisers they have come up against race haters with unfortunate results for themselves and their tribal group. I believe several Maori chiefs acted the part of "Uncle Toms" during the New Zealand Wars (1845 - 1872). Some chiefs believed by siding with the British colonisers, their people would be spared the barbarity the British unleashed on the belligerent tribes, murder of women and children and land confiscation. They were wrong, as ultimately their own people also suffered the same fate as the others. European colonisers acted that way in all cases when it came to dealing with indigenous people.
Now apologise for your ill founded comments.
