I'm not going to bother with the references, but I think your own words, Maverick, are inappropriate (to say the least) given that a country that used to lead Western civilisation is now politicising its legal system in a desperate bid to destroy a man whom the Left Democrats are frightened of.

Who would take responsibility for the guaranteed mayhem of making an ex POTUS a political Prisoner ?
My guess is it won't be any of the irresponsible Democrats pushing for this ! He is quite likely guilty of liaison with a hooker but to make this a crime is political stupidity ! Posted by Indyvidual, Thursday, 6 April 2023 12:14:51 PM

Hi ttbn
Justice hasn't gotten to Trump over Trump inciting the deadly 6th January 2021 attack on the Capitol building. The type of lesser, but serious, financial fraud charges that finally jailed Al Capone might just yield a guilty verdict against Trump. But I don't expect Trump will go to jail. The $10s millions in campaign donations Trump has been receiving since he lost the 2020 Election can be diverted to pay the odd 100 defence lawyers to keep Trump out of jail. At most Trump will likely get House Arrest, or PALACE Arrest in Trump's case. Posted by Maverick, Thursday, 6 April 2023 12:25:04 PM

You know I'm really starting to get fed up with the regurgitated bullcrap that comes out of some of you lot.
Maverick, you post "What with Trump's myriad crimes [1]" So I click the link [1] and the headline is: "Donald Trump pleads not guilty to 34 charges in New York hush money case – as it happened" Where has he been found guilty, or is it guilty until proven innocent Coming from the same people that brought you 'Pissgate' This whole thing is a stupid witchhunt. He paid Stormy Daniels off 130k, whoop doop Donald Trump has enough money that he could buy half a dozen 130k coffee tables without batting an eyelid, and pay for it out of spare change he had in his change jar. The worst part of it all is that you idiots gobble down this BS you're fed, without batting an eyelid either, and it's starting to give me the shites just how stupid and ignorant of the facts you all are. How bout you read this article instead Maverick Prosecutor Admits DC Police Officers Acted as Provocateurs at US Capitol on Jan. 6 http://www.theepochtimes.com/prosecutor-admits-dc-police-officers-acted-as-provocateurs-at-us-capitol-on-jan-6_5148808.html Posted by Armchair Critic, Thursday, 6 April 2023 1:16:09 PM

- Quotes from article above: >>Along the edge of the Capitol property, Officer 2 encourages one protester to go up to the building. “Go join ’em then,” he says. The man replies, “No, I’ve got my bike to guard.” Officer 1 repeatedly joins in chants of “Drain the swamp!” and “Our house! Our house! Our house!” A short time later, Officer 1 joins the crowd in a “USA!” chant, repeating the phrase five times. At the foot of the northwest stairs, someone leans part of a bicycle rack against the balustrade. As a protester climbs up the makeshift ladder, Officer 1 shouts: “C’mon, man, let’s go! Leave that [expletive].” Officer 1 gets help from a protester climbing onto the balustrade of the steps. Then, surveying the people moving up the staircase, he shouts, “C’mon, go, go, go!” Officer 1 encourages the crowd to move up the stairs with repeated shouts of “Keep going!”<< Who in the feck was inciting the maverick? Donald Trump wasn't even there. I don't know how many freaking times I have to tell you people this, no matter how many times I repeat it, it just never seems to sink in. 'The corporate medias job is to mislead, misinform or persuade the general public.' It's really about time you all bloody-well woke up and stop skarfing down the utter BS they feed you, that you morons just can't seem to swallow enough of. - Wake the hell up, you idiots! Hi Indyvidual
Yes the whole spectacle of Trump in court may make him a martyr in the eyes of many undecided US voters. ie. The court process against Trump may actually help Trump's presidential campaign. Any publicity is often good publicity for Trump. Posted by Maverick, Thursday, 6 April 2023 1:58:30 PM

Did her sleep with her? Uncontested.
Did he pay her off? Uncontested. Was there the use of campaign funds to do so? Uncontested. Was there an attempt to hide the diversion of funds through doctoring books? Uncontested. Is that a crime? Uncontested. His lawyer was convicted of it. So it comes down the question of Trump's involvement in the crime and surely it is perfectly reasonable for that to be tested at court. Those against it are basically saying they are fine with one rule for the rich and bugger the rest of us. Posted by SteeleRedux, Thursday, 6 April 2023 3:58:46 PM

When Hilary agreed to fund the Steele dossier, she paid moneys from her campaign funds to her lawyers who then passed it on to the Steele and his co-conspirators to fund what turned out to be an entirely fictional set of claims about Trump.
Did she pay for it....uncontested. Was there the use of campaign funds to do so? Uncontested. Was there an attempt to hide the diversion of funds through doctoring books? Uncontested. Is that a crime? Uncontested. All this has already been tested and acknowledged by the Hilary gang. She and her campaign we found guilty of committing an election funding misdemeanour. The result? A fine which they tried to keep quiet, paid without any fanfare and moved on as though nothing had happened. What Trump did, if indeed he was involved, was basically the same thing which is why the Feds declined to prosecute. But Trump is a special case and the Democratic regime and its underlings are determined to destroy him as a threat to their wealth and power. So two levels of justice. Yep. One for the Democrats and their hangers on, and one for any MAGA supporters. Want to see other examples? Look at how Bill Clinton was handled when he paid to suppress evidence of extra-marital relations with Paula Jones. Or John Edwards who paid to hide his mistress while running as Gore's VP. Want more evidence of different levels of justice depending on your political stance. See the difference between how the BLM rioters were handled and say, Jacob Chansley, who was jailed for his part in the J6 protest after evidence was supressed. Trump is effectively leader of the opposition in the USA. Any country that tries to criminalise its political opponents is no longer a democracy. Posted by mhaze, Thursday, 6 April 2023 5:04:11 PM

I loathe Trump and would be delighted if he is properly found guilty of some of his crimes, but I worry this case may actually work to his advantage. The case seems complex, and even if he is guilty the offenses seem not particularly serious in the scheme of things. The accusation that it is politically motivated may have merit, and has forced even members of the Republican Party who oppose him to come to his defence. If the case fails (or even if it succeeds) it may make it harder to pursue the more serious charges against him, of improperly retaining classified documents, inciting the January 6 riots and interfering in the election results.
Meanwhile, it plays to his image as the persecuted and wronged outsider pursued by the establishment in an illegitimate attempt to thwart his rightful presidency. Posted by Rhian, Thursday, 6 April 2023 5:44:37 PM

According to tonight's news, donations are flooding in to help Trump and, and it was said that he is now a cert for the Republican nomination. Perhaps the behaviour of the Democrats and their blatant politicisation of the justice system will be what it takes to make the worms finally turn. Thankfully we don't have to worry ourselves about it, and we have enough problems of our own, with our Constitution currently under threat.

It will be interesting to see if Trump moves ahead of Biden, in the betting, as the slow wheels of the New York court system turn and the November 2024 Elections draw nearer.
A betting company (often accurate) using horse race like betting odds http://www.sportsbet.com.au/betting/politics/us-politics/us-presidential-election-2024-5479667 Still puts Biden ahead 2.75 With Trump marginally behind 3.60 DeSantis, next most picked Republican candidate, at 4.50 is steadily falling behind Trump. It probably doesn't hurt to point out that Trump isn't the first disruptive figure who, as a threat to the power and wealth of the elite, was arrested a few days before Easter.

Yes your observation is exactly right. Jesus was a leader whom the tyrants feared, so they falsely accused him of a crime and executed him. If as they say they beat PrTrump so easily at the last Presidential election, why are they so desperate to take him out of the race? Actions speak louder than words. You are right, the Jan 6th event had CIA, FBI fingerprints all over it The FBI have detailed in the past, how they instigate riots and change regimes using the riots to convict opponents of the Regime change. They put favourable leaders in to benefit other world powers like the wealthy globalist CEOs of works corporations, WEF members at Davos. I think these powerful moneyed Globalists are using the TV channels they own or have large shares in and newspapers they own in America and Australia, (5 corporations own the world's media)to control the narrative and to finance the candidates, who favour their globalist money making agenda. I think it's actually been going on for a longtime. They got a hell of a shock! when Pres Trump got around their "Fake News" and defended himself and spoke directly to the people on Twitter and online. He also ran on his own campaign money. For the first time in decades there was a truly "elected by the people President" He started undoing their world reset agenda. Bringing prosperity and jobs back to the American people at the monetary expense of China and the world's Wealthy corporate Globalists Posted by CHERFUL, Friday, 7 April 2023 4:42:09 PM

The Capitol riots could never have got started if the Capitol guards hadn't opened the gates around the Capitol Building and encouraged
the crowd to come in. I saw footage of this on a mobile phone video posted online in the days following the riot. I saw the crowd hesitate puzzled. One fellow asked "why are we allowed in there?" He said the Police said, " there's a better view on the other side." Also an Antifa known riot instigator. Was recognised in the crowd, His name is John Sullivan.he was dressed as a Trump supporter and had with him a big oversized baseball bat. He was the one who smashed the glass in the balcony doors and let the crowd into the building. There's is no John Sullivan in prison for J6 though in fact when it came out he has been recognised he seems to have disappeared Paid a million dollars to disappear perhap Posted by CHERFUL, Friday, 7 April 2023 5:10:24 PM

I wonder if Trump could straighten out some of the international problems now like Ukraine/Russia and China the way he did when he was President: Iran, North Korea and China and Russia minded their manners during his term.
He is the only US President since Ronald Reagan that the global delinquents actually feared. Posted by ttbn, Friday, 7 April 2023 5:14:41 PM

To see how the J6 protests were weaponised by the Democrats in ways similar to the Reichstag fire, one only needs to see the recently released footage of how unriotous the day was....
http://youtu.be/Opy7MLGAPBk http://youtu.be/-z1KGCPMrJo It was all a beat-up that took the US further away from its democratic roots. Posted by mhaze, Saturday, 8 April 2023 9:44:11 AM

Well I didn't think even the most bizarre members of the forum would start comparing Trump to Christ but here we are. What a scream.
Well I suppose it was a prostitute who washed the feet of Jesus with her hair so there is that. But bloody hell you lot have really lost it. Lol. Dear mhaze, I have no problem with a reassessment of the case against Hillary, but you are arguing that because she may have gotten away with a crime (even though the FEC assessment committee which made up of equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats decided she hadn't) then he should too even though you have very clearly agreed a crime was committed. More pandering to (supposedly) Billionaires. Posted by SteeleRedux, Saturday, 8 April 2023 7:31:35 PM

Dear CHERFUL
Where you say http://forum.onlineopinion.com.au/thread.asp?discussion=10107&page=0#346533 channeling good Nazi language "the world's Wealthy corporate Globalists" you are referring to the JEW. Between you and me, and don't tell anyone else, one of my jobs was to debrief, one of Australia's last remaining fully paid up Hitler Nazis. My Nazi was one of the more believing members of the 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend, At 17 years old in 1945, he beat the Australian immigration system, and got here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12th_SS_Panzer_Division_Hitlerjugend With his Swiss stolen cash, from dead Jews, he bought a ski resort in the Snowy Mountains, a very big house in Canberra, the vagina of an Aussie "wife" one third his age and two German Shepherds. Where this is going is he, while arguing "Hitler was really not that bad" like you also talked of "Wealthy corporate Globalists" meaning, in dark web speak, the JEW. SR,
Just to explain for the slow of reading, I wasn't comparing Trump to Jesus. I was comparing the reaction of the Pharisees to a disruptive force that threatened its power and wealth to the reaction of the current kakistocracy to a disruptive force that threatens its power and wealth. As to Hilary, the FEC decided that Hilary WAS guilty of a crime and fined her $8000 on the basis that it was minor (the DNC was also fined). The FEC on the other hand looked at the Trump situation and decided there was NO crime. But that didn't suit the maniacs in NY. That is why those of us who look at it with reason rather than through the TDS prism, see clear evidence of a dual legal system. One that protects the rich and powerful and one that seeks to tear down those who threatened the rich and powerful. "...even though you have very clearly agreed a crime was committed." Nup. I didn't say that at all. Posted by mhaze, Sunday, 9 April 2023 9:25:13 AM

Dear mhaze,
You chirped: “"...even though you have very clearly agreed a crime was committed." Nup. I didn't say that at all. “ Lol. Really? I said Trump's crimes were uncontested and you replied with a direct comparison that Hillary's were “Uncontested” too. You then clearly stated: “What Trump did, if indeed he was involved, was basically the same thing”. The equivalence was your call not mine and now you are trying to slide out from under it? Typical slipperiness from you. Posted by SteeleRedux, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 10:25:26 AM

SR,
I was just opining that, if the evidence shows Trump was as involved as Hilary, then his 'crime' would be the equivalent of her's which was treated as a minor misdemeanour. So no assertion of a crime, just that if a crime is proven it was extremely minor in its extent. Since then its now been pointed out that Hilary paid for the Steele report (which I should add was proven to be rubbish but which a certain SR fell for hook, line and sinker) out of campaign funds, whereas the alleged payment to Cohen was paid out of Trump's private funds. Which is why the FEC declined any thought of prosecuting Trump while still prosecuting Hilary. Posted by mhaze, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 11:23:42 AM

Each society deserves the politicians they select.
The US is no different to Australia or any other country. The same applies. If the US votes for Trump it deserves Trump and everything that goes along with it...as long as Australia goes it's own way I'm fine with that. The 'mericans have bigger problems... they just refuse to recognise it. The minute the US$ ceases to be the world's currency standard of exchange everyone's savings will be at risk. Very true Special Delivery
If the US dollar is again under President unPredictable Trump the West may see China as a more stable predictable currency alternative. Put another way the international financial system dependent on US dollar stability may experience increasing Trumpian currency instability. After years of a New Global Financial Crisis while Trump is again President (serving 2025-2029) the Chinese Renmindi (of which the Yuan is a basic unit) might look more stable. Notably http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renminbi records : "On 1 October 2016, the Renminbi became the first emerging market currency to be included in the IMF's special drawing rights basket, the basket of currencies used by the IMF as a reserve currency." TRUMP SEES HIS INDICTMENT AS A GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO BOOST HIS RUNNING-FOR-PREZ ADVERTISING
US political website Axios reported today http://www.axios.com/2023/04/11/trump-digital-ads-2024-facebook-youtube "Donald Trump has poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into Facebook and Google ads [per week] in recent weeks, leveraging the chaos around his indictment to fundraise and collect data ahead of his 2024 run. Why it matters: Trump used the exact same playbook ahead of the 2020 election. Details: Trump is outspending likely 2024 [Republican rivals] Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, and former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, the only other candidate to officially announce a 2024 run, according to data from DC-based political advertising firm Bully Pulpit Interactive." " the international financial system dependent on US dollar stability may experience increasing Trumpian currency instability."
Yes, just like the last time Trump was in power.....oh wait, that was a time of significant financial stability and increasing respect for the great Satan. Well if Trump gets back in we'll see massive increases in international conflict, just like last time.....oh wait, last time saw a decline in international conflict (Trump being one of the few US presidents to NOT start a new war) with Russia, Iran and China in their boxes and the Abraham Accords close to resolving the M-E imbroglio. Well if Trump gets back in we'll see the US economy unravel from its current supreme strength...oh wait, the Trump economy was one of the best in decades with a new improved NAFTA, manufacturing jobs returning home, the lowest unemployment for blacks and Hispanics ever recorded, the US producing more fossil fuels than it needed which explained why Russia was in its box and the Saudis warming up to the Abraham Accords. But he sent nasty tweets so....off with his head. Posted by mhaze, Wednesday, 12 April 2023 7:16:23 AM

But if he can get rid of the neoconservative crowd, maybe he can transition to a less hostile foreign policy that accepts the new global realities. Under Democrats, we'll probably end up in a stupid war with China, which is not in Australia's best interests. Posted by Armchair Critic, Wednesday, 12 April 2023 1:21:25 PM

I haven't read all the posts this time, but I do have just these few thoughts...
Trump couldn't do it all himself. In fact, he does very little? He tells others to do it, and they shout 'yes', and go out and do it. (so beware of shouting 'yes'?) If there is blame at all, it is squarely on the shoulders of those who do his bidding without question. Are there other times in history when a similar situation has occurred? I think so. So it is the gullibility of people which is the cause of any problem. Time to start putting responsibility on the right shoulders? It seems to me that however conniving trump is, he doesn't deserve all the criticism he receives. I am not excusing him, but somehow it does seem there is a mad witch hunt in progress. If the present charges are genuine, and stand up in court, so be it. Posted by Ipso Fatso, Wednesday, 12 April 2023 3:41:01 PM

-- BIDEN did NOT beat PRES TRUMP in 2020 --
The security camera in the voting room was asked for and examined by Pr Trump's lawyers when Pres Trump contested the voting results. It was presented in one of the court cases online. I saw it played, but it was easy to tell the judge in that court case knew the evidence showed the obvious cheating, but he just wanted to get rid of the case like a hot potato and not stick his head above the parapet to say "yes the evidence showed the cheating that happened. And Biden wasn't president. The left would have Hunted him and his family down. When the media suddenly pulled the plug on the voting results late on voting night just as President Trump arrived at the studio to claim victory, because he was well ahead in all the key states. Someone rang one of the TV channels, and they said, they had finished counting for the night and would resume counting in the morning. They had a lookout at the Trump camp who sent a signal to the TV channels when he left to walk over to the TV studio. That's what really happened. Anyway, the security room camera recorded everyone packing up to go home for the night. There were 4 people who were walking around pretending to pack up too, until everyone else had left. Then they locked the doors walked over to the long tables covered with black sheets to the floor and pulled out bags on wheels full of ballots, took the ballots out and started rapidly feeding them through the voting machines. There was no! oversight there, everyone having gone home. Next day, all the key seats had flipped back to Biden. They had to know how many votes they had to add and in what numbers otherwise it may not have worked because of the sheer extra 11million votes, Pr Trump got above when he won the first time. Then the Fake media went to work declaring Joe Biden President. Posted by CHERFUL, Monday, 17 April 2023 11:33:40 PM
